Reason what it may
by Asha Kiran Balasa on Aug 31, 2006 10:37 PM  Permalink

The death of Akbar Khan Bugti is highly condemnable. After all he was fighting for freedom only after Islamabad become reluctant to give more autonomy or more share in the state's economy. Though presence of external neighbour's interests cannot be ruled out it should not be forgotten that Baloch are fighting for independence since 70's if not earlier.
It is true to every word that only Punjab province in the Pakistan is always focussed for development and other regions especially the Balochistan was totally forgotten over the years.
Reason what it may, Akbar Bugti is undoubtedly fought for the people of Balochistan.
Though external sources might have supported Bugti in order not to Gwadar become a big port for what ever their own reason, as of the Indian old adage goes 'Foe's foe is a friend' is true and Akbar Bugti receiving help from them doesnt necessarily mean that he is not fighting for the greater share of Balochistan's wealth and Baloch freedom.
No separatist movement in the world was ever won through force. Pakistan should soon realize this and rather should see how it can be solved through talks than through weapons.

Clearly Pakistan is on the defensive and has to eat its own medicine. So it is but natural it chooses to blame a neighbour.

External hand?
by Sameer on Aug 31, 2006 09:22 PM  Permalink

I just wish it were Indian hand.
India should grab this opportunity and help the balochs fight off the Pakistan, India can always deny as Pakistan does regarding Kashmir and raise this in UN, NAM etc.
This will lead to the dismemberment of the artificial state of Pakistan.

Pakistan's alluding to India
by Jaganniwas Iyer on Aug 31, 2006 08:59 PM  Permalink

The problem with these Pakistanis is that they can't manage diplomacy with finesse. Now 'neighbouring country helping Balochistan' can only mean India. By the way, there's lesson in this for the Pakis. If you stoke fires in your neighbourhood, don't expect to be left unharmed and in peace at home, got it? But I guess even this timeless and ever-relevant moral will be lost on our pesky western neighbour, obsessed as it is with somehow 'achieving parity' with a neighbour ten times its size and infinitely more capable in every conceivable field of human activity, excepting of course, terrorism!

Neighbouring Country help!!!!
by Ram on Aug 31, 2006 08:48 PM  Permalink

If a neighbouring country actually helped bugti, well its good news after all these years of pakistan helping, abetting, aiding and conducting terrorism on a neighbouring country (India). If it is india which is doing this, well what can i say ..please do more such things and at a larger scale
