Reeservation is here to stay
by Raveendran on Aug 30, 2006 09:22 PM  Permalink

Columist shows how the elite view about lower castes

=========
I do not know why the government is reserving seats for higher education where 8 out of 10 Dalit children drop out of school before Class X -- which means the drop-out rate is approximately 80 per cent.
=========
Compare reservation with disabled persion not with cricket team . Stop making fun about reservation .
Do you know why in south more students are excelling and educated youth rate is up every year because of reservation .

Even in America , Minority reservation is available for business . lot of banks are proclaiming they have special scheme for minority . so Business knows where to recruit not due to reservation .

your point is if a reserved person studing in college means colledge doesnt deserve for campus recruiting ?

Please allow fair play ..

Note : I m not came from Reserved category and never availed any education /work compensation with reserved status .

Rediffmail should be impartial
by None on Aug 30, 2006 09:17 PM  Permalink

Recently, I have seen many 'Anti- reservation' articles in Rediff.com. Let me tell you that, people have their reasons for getting reservations. And they are as good as the reasons given against reservation. Probably rediff is dominated by people against reservation and that's why it is partial. I have to blame Rediffmail for hurting sentiments of many like us (not blaming author... he is doing his job). Can Rediff be impartial?

Time to make India a no reservation country
by nanda thudi on Aug 30, 2006 09:09 PM  Permalink

This is an excellent stuff from Rajat Narang. The way he analysed and portrayed the reservation situation with some phenomenal examples are outstanding. These kind of articles are of real value to make people understand and realize the need for true competetion that will help Indian flag fly high.Great work Narang. keep it up.

Excellent comments. All of these things can be said in multiple and very appealing ways. Unfortunately every person with even little forsight and intelligence understands this. reservation is not good for anyone, except the politicians. Even the backward community is not helped by this, as rightly said they need help in the primary education. By they i mean not backward based on caste but by poverty. It is frusterating, knowing India's political system, even though me being a very optimistic person, I feel here nothing will be done to correct this.

whats the point?
by srini on Aug 30, 2006 09:07 PM  Permalink

i seriously dont see any point in writing article after article in the press about reservations. with all the comments that one gets for the topic, one would be easily forced to believe that its the politicians who want reservations and not the general public. but the fact is that those who benefit from reservations secretly enjoy the luxury offered. how many of the ppl who are eligible for a reserved seat, forego it on the basis of merit? in all my life, i just know of 1 such guy. the press can write loads of pages about the futility of reservation, 1000s of passionate readers can reply to it, but the ground reality isnt going to change. in the end we will all accept whats happening to us and look for other options to grow in life.

Do you know meaning of Socialism?
by Somu Kumar on Aug 30, 2006 08:14 PM  Permalink

Mr. Rajat,

You are just another oppurtunistic person who makes hue & cry against Reservation. When you talk about Social equality, where have you been when innocent triabls and lower caste people were abused for last 5 decades?

Your talk about 'Equality' only when you or your kid is directly affected by Reservation or else you don't care who suffers. How oppurtunistic are you?

This is affirmative action or positive discrimnation as a remedy to your oppression of lower caste. This is Socialism to you, Rajat. Get a life!

Reservation wil slow or negative economic growth
by Manoj Kholia on Aug 30, 2006 08:05 PM  Permalink

When the non deserving, non intelligent, non qualified, non talented, manipulated, candidates will be filling the IIT & IIM campus and real talent will be frustrating at home seeing there dark future because of reservation imposed by stupid Indian power hungry politicians. The foreign Hi Tech companies which look forward to India for talent will not get the rights candidate they will start looking forward for other competitors of India like China, Brazil, Philippines, Pakistan. Then these countries will have advantage. Till the point we would realize the point whole India system will be occupied with non intelligent people and will start seeing an economic slow down. Market will go down and people will suffer all just because of reservation for non competitive people whole contry will suffer.
