Before you post a message you need to be clear about your the fundamentals of the topic you discuss, so after reading your message i understood that you not only lag ,inspite of that if we elect you as a leader you will once gain change the history like what Muhammad bin Tughluq\'s where he sifted the countries capital.
One thing i read ,why SC/ST have given reservation is that they are kept slaves till 19 th century , like we haven\'t given a change to live like us what we live and they are not supposed to drink water in the village , or nither they should walk in the road where they should tie up the coconet leaves to getrid of the foot prints.
This one page Article cannot cover all the scenarios in Indian Caste Sytem, Indian Livelihood. whats pros & cons of reservation. This Article seems to be written in sentimental mood. Current scenario is grave & it will take efforts from highly educated people who understand Human living patterns very well. Bottomline they will be no one Liner , one Day solution for this. It may take a century to resolve this.
Excerpts from our constitution, statements seem contradictory. I'm confident the authors had the right intentions...sadly lost in all the legal speak: 15. Prohibition of discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.(1) The State shall not discriminate against any citizen on grounds only of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth or any of them. (2) No citizen shall, on grounds only of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth or any of them, be subject to any disability, liability, restriction or condition with regard to (a) access to shops, public restaurants, hotels and places of public entertainment; or (b) the use of wells, tanks, bathing ghats, roads and places of public resort maintained wholly or partly out of State funds or dedicated to the use of the general public. (3) Nothing in this article shall prevent the State from making any special provision for women and children. (4) Nothing in this article or in clause (2) of article 29 shall prevent the State from making any special provision for the advancement of any socially and educationally backward classes of citizens or for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes
a very good article indeed.keep up the great job.this article has cover the whole issue and very good solutions too.let's tackle these politicians during next general election and throw them out of power especially UPA governement.
Hello Mr Narang, Why you just stopped at making a "No Reservation country",why not making a "No cast country".Why do we need a cast which is based on birth. Why still there are tons of temples in india into which people of lower castes are denied entry. Why only people belonging to a particular caste can work as priests in temples.According to your funda,if the country should be based purely on talent then why not the same principle be applied everywhere, why just in IIT/IIMs.Why don't we just ban the word 'caste'. I wonder how you could write such a senseless article in a popular site like rediff.
I think it is time to step back and realize what we are doing here. This to me goes against the basic notion of "us all being equal" in the eyes of the constitution...at some level this seems illegal. Call me paranoid but this almost smells and feels like a form of "apartheid"...see definition below: noun 1. (in the Republic of South Africa) a rigid policy of segregation of the nonwhite population. 2. any system or practice that separates people according to race, caste, etc. Instead of eradicating the divide based on caste, the politicians of today are fueling the fire with such ludicrous policies. The message here seems to be: Here this is what you get for being XYZ caste and this is what you'll not get for being ABC caste. So what next do we end up with reservations for travel also based on which caste you belong to? So called "reservations"...I'd rather like these to be wholly funded scholarships...should purely be based on merit/economic standards and nothing else. All the administrative cost and collective energy spent on this issue can be well utilized otherwise.
Well said, Rajat! Why not the whole country start a revolution to drive out these corrupt politicians who play the votebank politics to retain power. These politicians who belong to that generation which was not just colonized physically but mentally too. "Divide and rule" is a game they mastered from their colonial masters. I think no matter how much the younger generation protests, the change will come only when Mulayams, Lallus, Arjuns of the world are rid from our society. India will progress, because our vedic, liberal heritage has always been progressive. We took a backseat in the world stage only because these progressive, advanced thoughts, ideas and philosophies were briefly (In our millennia deep civilization, 800years is still a short time)interrupted by oppressive forces from the west - both Islamic and missionary Christianity. India will be back in its element because of what is deep-rooted in our civilization - a deep understanding of the universe, faith in great abundance of knowledge, desire for peace and harmony and equality.
We can go about yelling and being idealisting but it is not going to change a thing. The only direction for India going ahead is downwards. If you care about your future, get out of the country. Sadly, the real glory of India is now found outside it's borders among people who have earned a place for themselves and their heritage in alien cultures.
I share Rajat Narang's resistance to today's reservations. BUT reservation could be a good thing, if it was meant to support those "deserving" kids trying to get some education and find a job, regardless of their family's poor financial and educational background. Well, it may slightly affect the quality of the workforce we deliver from schools. But, imagine, what it could do to our nation, if all those today's poor families had an educated, earning member in the next few years. But, yes, the reservation quota should also not be too excessive. So, I think, we can live without some 15-20% of seats in job or schools, knowing it is for the cause of our country, an investment for the future India.
