First of all your analogy of comparing reservation in educational institutions/govt companies against our cricket team is just plain stupid.
SC/STs continue to remain poor despite Govt's relief measures and they cannot be expected to compete on fair terms with the more privelaged upper castes. How many SC/STs can really afford the expensive private coaching to get into IITs/IIMs?. A fair game is one where there is equal chance for everyone to compete.Majority of SCs/STs cannot even afford a regular meal on a daily basis. For SC/STs a dream of joining the cricket team would be too far fetched.The upper castes have been ruling the country since god knows when. Why hasn't the country developed. Thnik about how the southern states which implemented reservations have made significant progress . And those states which refused to implement lagged behind. That is a perfect example.

The way I see it, the coaching institutes are a farce. Of all the IIM / IIT people that I know, no one made it thorugh because of coaching. If you are so keen on throwing your folks hard(ly) earned money - be my guest. The current quota controversy is another license for political profligacy - Dr.Singh our esteemed prime minister is himself cambridge educated and a bureaucrat to the boot - one cannot expect anything from such an ivory tower thinker. As for the likes of Arjun singh - his education is at best incomplete. I happened to meet a couple of youngsters in the UK who were there ostensibly for education and their profile was remarkable: Kids of politicians with little or no interest in studies (and not very bright either). Hence QED.

Very shame to you for writing your stupid comments. Desspite of govt's relief they are not in well positioned, how do you expect thet providing them more will improve it all. Just by going thro' expensive coaching, you can not get thro IITs/IIMs. many people goes thro coaching, not all of them get thro' it. As per you majority of SCs/STs cannot even afford a regular meal.So resernation is here for seats of Dr.s and engineers, not for food. Government is already providing foods to them thro' other corporations. You said, Why hasn't the country developed. Its very shame on you if you think that country is not developed. Or you don't know what is developemnt? If it is not developed how are you posting your messages on net. where did you get the information that only southern part has implemented the reservation and not the other part and which state is lagged behind? In all states of india reservations are implemented since long.if you think that just because kerela there is 100% literacy, all the southern states are developed then this is you misunderstanding.First get the difference between literate people and educate people. then talk about reservations.
If all the educated people in our country vote during elections, instead of enjoying vacations during elections, then we can expect our politicians to be little more responsible, other wise reservation drama will contibue forever and our country will remain with third world for few more centurys to come.
Sir, Caste based reservations are not made on the basis of any scientific criterion. It is a legacy of Britishers' Divide and Rule. In Tamil Nadu it is a stock in trade for some regional parties. They have no any genuine concern for poor. In order to hide their monumental corruptions they are using reservation issue for diverting the attention of public. The folly of reservations can be easily understood if one knows the fact that by changing a sub-sect one can be come backward! What one needs is only a certificate from Village Admn Officer. Many affluent families have become backward by these wicket gates.Even rulers know about this. In Tamilnadu it was born out of jealousy and hatred towards Brahmin community. Brahmin baiting still continues as some unscrupulous politicians tasted money and power out of that. It is hightime that all caste based reservations are scrapped immediately and fair competition in education and employment is ensured. S. Sampathkumar

dear sampath.. don't u think our society was divided by the cunning upper castes by forcing varnASHRAM a system of reservetions which reserved education , wealth ,status, etc., for the 'upper-castes'for 5000 years. so why blame the britishers. Now let me tell all u hypocrites who hate reservation for backwards but shamelessly enjoyed for 5000 years under vaRNASHRAM , that Reservation will remain not a second more than the period for which u enjoyed varNASHRAM. so b prepared to accept it. And how can a system which is better for 80% of population b bad for the nation.pl explain.
Its really good to hear these words in such a terrible situation in the country. I can't understand why politicians trying to burden our and future generations with one more mistake - for votes???? Tell them they won't be able carry any votes and chair with them when they die.
Honestly i too support reservation for those who are not economically capable in terms of opportunities, waivers, subsidies, that will really work for the upliftment of the society. But the thing they are trying now is just to divide the country into various communities.
I always felt proud being Indian but now frankly i think why not i leave this country. Whole world is looking at india now and our politicians trying to turnback our country to misery.
Your article is very well written, each and every work I fully agree, you are a true indian and a Sacha Desh Bhakt, I especially liked your challenge to Young Politicians on whom we rely a bit that they will change something in Indian politics for good.

Sir, I didnt disrespect anyone. But why should I suffer for mistakes of someone else? It is like a revenge. If you really want to help the so called backward class, u need to do something good for them that does not affect others. What you doing now is punishing the other communities. This is not going to help any one in so called Backward class. Reservation has been there for long time now and nothing improved and this new policy is not going to do good for any one. Rather the effects are going to be opposite. I dont know when u guys r going to understand that u r just being used by this politicians like Arjun Sing for there cheap political career.
I should ask you which politician has given you some money for writing this article. Just look beyond 50 yrs....,why that, even during 70's people used to be degraded based on caste discrimination. Only If you had been thro those sufferings you wouldn't have dared to write such a stupid article.

why to look back 50 years or in 70's. Look for today,do you think that today we are not living in a caste based society.But does it mean that this could be removed by reservations.If it is not removed in last 50 years,how can you expect it to be removed now? if you are thinking that government to too conecerned about you by providing reservations, then ask them to first provide reservations in Parliament.Post of MPs/MLAa are more powerfull then Docters and engineers.SO ask them to provide more powefull post. they should change the constitution that if an ST/SC and OBC will get 20% votes,they should be elected for MP or MLA,DO you think they will do that? never, they are not yet implemented 33% female reservation in partiament, why ?because it will affect their seats.They don't want their position to become insecure.they are making middle class people's position insecure. ofcourse the caste difference will be totally removed if lower class people will be provided with the facility to first become literate and then become educated by providing them primary education so that they will get thro IITs/IIMs by their own.then none will say that he got admission thro' reservation quota.
For young generation to enter politics and become MP. He should have Bhai's support. Not brother but underworld. So if you have such people backing you then do you think such people will improve country? The only thing general category people can do is something like Rang de basanti. There it was defense minister. Here it should be Human resource minister. In the worst case do something like one of the movie named Angaar of Jackie where they blew away entire parliament only.
