No reservation
by ravindra on Aug 30, 2006 10:22 AM  Permalink

Good. I definitely agree for no reservation basing on caste system

However if one would take a look at the villages and people below poverty line, one would feel justified in continuing reservation to the poor. Reservation should be for the basic education but not for higher education.

I will NEVER VOTE FOR CONGRESS
by Jayant on Aug 30, 2006 10:19 AM  Permalink

UPA is committing grave mistake by using Quota Issue for creating vote bank at the risk of progress of the nation. I will never vote for congress again, even if Jawaharlal Nehru comes back.

Mere paas quota hai bhai..
by pvkrishna on Aug 30, 2006 10:18 AM  Permalink

well said..you are talking of young politicians keeping mum on the issue.. and not a single party opened their mouth to give their view more scared of getting victimised.. by the people. You can mark this is a temporary victory for all policians by this kind of pseudo reservation policy and public is not fool. The affected educated class esp. the younger generation who will ditch cong. and others may vote as they like as usaual. The myth of vote bank is not going to help any party. as we are already paying a heavy price on moslemisation issue by each netas.. and now this reservation is the first nail to the coffin of professionalism, which henceforth is free or the otherway with no true merits. Then will it affect this nation.. no it will only put us back by way of quality and honesty etc. But this country is still survivig with the dishonest politicaians .. then what worse can happen..

You got it, they pretend to not !
by sindhuja on Aug 30, 2006 10:16 AM  Permalink

I could'nt agree any less with Mr. Narang.
But whatever he is stating is but a common sense and plain and fair logic. When have we ever been able to be lucky enuff to elect leaders who truely care about causes and righting the wrongs? Have'nt we been divided and ruled by them more than the brits ever did?
They came, they conquered but at the same time they even brought a few social awarenesses( education, gender equality, infrastructure etc.) with which we completely refuse to credit them with. But what do we want to attribute our leaders with? Till date leaders are trying to divide us on religion, caste, traditions, language and what not.
The reservations- why does it pop up every now and then? why is government not bettering it's education system for all- which is basic right in most well governed countries? the govnt knows spoon feeding will
yield quicker results without it having to work hard and spend on better education for all.
DIVIDE and RULE- we are easily herded anywhichways!!

can we remove resevation from this country -article by Narang
by SDC on Aug 30, 2006 10:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

can you remove caste from your blood, thoughts & finally ur own marriage. if 'no' then you cannot remove reservation from this country. hw many of the younger generation is ready to go out of their caste and marry and create a casteless society.how many of us have the guts to throw away the rituals related with their caste identities. coz it hurts our chances of getting a better education and better life we shout against reservation, caste and but otherwise have anybody thought why the hell this caste system is there and who benefitted out these all these years.
why dont the so called intellectuals who are worried about the Quality now, not see the root cause of reservation which is caste system imbibed in our upbringing.

Sometimes people mix professional and personal things. You are talking about marriage. Marriages are totally a personal thing, if you think you are not suitable for a partilicular marriage, still you are going for it, means you are playing with your own life. But if a doctor is not qualified for his position and still becomes a doctors means, he is playing with many other people lives, similary unqualified engineers is playing with the life of nation. Most of younger generation believes in non-caste based society.
if you will go thro' a survey you will find that none from the younger generation is really believe on caste based society. All have friends from different castes.
i don't know what makes you to feel that still youngers are supporting caste based society. i agreed that previous generation people believes on a cast based society, but not this generation people.
Reservation is simply a ball provided by our polititians to us, We are playing with this ball, but politian's are enjoying the game.
Infact by talking reservations we are only again moving towards a caste based society.

Reservation policy
by manoj Kumar Sharma on Aug 30, 2006 10:08 AM  Permalink

Purpose of Reservation is to divide the society. There are much more less priviledged persons in upper caste also. To increase the competency level must be the basic purpose.

quota's in india
by KRISHNAN B MENON on Aug 30, 2006 10:08 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

mr narang has hit the nail on the head. how about another nail on the head of the MP's MLA's? They enjoy benefits of a salary, perks and now pension. So how about minimum basic qualifications to stand for elections and how about maximum age - beyond which one cannot stand for elections? We will then see less of old fuddy duddies - with support of sticks walking into parliment and trying to rule our country with their muddled and incoherent thoughts. If there can be minimum qualifications and maximum age for Judges and all bureaucrats, why not for politicians too? this should be tackled by we citizens immediately and a clean criteria established for the same

Shouldn't you be arguing for a better educational standards and schools that will help you compete in the national level selection process, instead of crying for reservation? If you are under prepared for the selection and get admission, will you also cry for interpreting lower grades as high academic achievement? Please be advised all forward community members are not rich. Those who are economically weak, achieve success through hard work.
Learn to value work, you will succeed in your endeavour. Praise mediocrity, surely you will dig your own grave. If you were a business owner, whom will you employ, a high achiever or low?
