by pradeep agarwal on Aug 30, 2006 11:20 AM  Permalink

Rajat you did not mention one thing.Let Sonia Gandhi,Manmohan Singh,Chidambaram,Arjun Singh ,Karunanidhi & Paswan take a vow to get treated by an SC/ST/OBC doctor whenever they need medical help or be flown by a reserve category pilot during their jouneys.

Reservation must go
by sg on Aug 30, 2006 11:18 AM  Permalink

If the govt in 60 years cannot provide with basic primery education then there must be someting wrong with the so called quota system. I think the idea itself is faluted by Ambedkar. There should have been no education at all in the first place. It should have been made mandatory that all children go to school if not the parents would lose benefits. This should have been implemented. Ambedkar only created a monster that none would like to kill.

Reservation.
by Anilkumar Nair on Aug 30, 2006 11:15 AM  Permalink

I totally agree with you. I think you forget to comment on the Congress Government's votebank policy that no reservation on minority institutions. I do not understand why the govt. has decided such a way. It is also the duty of the government (states & centre) that a census is to be taken on the basis of caste. I am from Kerala. In our state, rich people are hailing from minority communities. Actually what is the basis of "socially and economically backward". The Govt. saying that there should be reservation for people from "socially backward". I do not undrstand what is the basis for "socially backward". If Government thinks the lower casts are "socially backward" then minority status is to be given for "upper castes". Since reservation is based on caste/religion basis, minority status is also to be determined on caste basis and not by religion.

Give Backward Communities Facilities not Reservation.....
by Vijay on Aug 30, 2006 11:13 AM  Permalink

Student should get seats in IIM and IIT's based on the merit, getting into these institutions is every students dream.. so he should'nt get into it easily.

He/she should have enough knowledge and talent in them to get into these prestigious institutes.

I will truly appricitate the Guys from backward communities if they really make it on their talent.

So Govt. can give these guys, facilities of Free books and scholarships...even exempt them from fee up to 50%.

but givig them reservation 49.9% is totally unfair compared to those who studied really hard to get into IIM's and IIT"S.

My voice is not against SC/ST/OBC.. its Against Govt. who is playing Filthy politics.. Destroying Directly or indirectly Communal Hormony amoung Students.

Bottom Line is " Make this country Reservation Free, Give all kinds of facilities to backward communities when he/she makes into Prestigious institutes on MERIT "

Then u can see BRIGHT INDIA.... where even backward communities really make it into Prestigious institutes for the Facilities which they get once they get into IIT's and M's..

nice and good to follow
by Venkat Apparao on Aug 30, 2006 11:12 AM  Permalink

This article is worth of reading. Yes this is the time to think over India as reservations free country. Its a worthful suggestion to implement compulsory primary education to SC/ST/OBC instead of resevations at higher education. When politians are talking about reservations in higher educations why they won't talk about the reservations for their party Higher posts. Is BJP or Congress or others ready to let their party president position for Reservation candidate. I won't think they will let it so. Its all a political stunt to attaract the SC/ST/OBC vote bank. So let us resist this to save our furture generation.

It all ends at the votes
by KETAN SAWANT on Aug 30, 2006 11:09 AM  Permalink

Dear Mr.Rajat, I seriously agree with your views regarding the fact that all these useless ideas are being approved by our politicians only to maintain proper control over the vote banks. But to cut the story short, what can we as individuals do to stop this stupidity so that our contry becomes a place we can really be proud of.

Very good point.
by Pal on Aug 30, 2006 11:01 AM  Permalink

I am with Rajat. Indeed the country should be free from any kind of reservation. Why don't dalits understand that just reservation is not going to help much for their development? Instead if politicians really have soft corner for them and want to make a real difference then they must give 100% free education to them and encourage healthy competition among those communities. I am scratching my head for why some of the educated dalits don't come forward and do the right thing.

Will companies from abroad still come for campus recruitment?
by Venu on Aug 30, 2006 10:54 AM  Permalink

Alas, What a pity, in the name of competition and best education, from the tax of the salt sold to the poor people, the IIM and IIT are built where the fee is not more than LKG/UKG fee of an public school to train, motivate and send them to foreign company to make policy to get more money to the company from the poor people. When most of the trained managers from these institutions are going abroad, why not give that chance to the SC/STs and OBCs. It is true and proved that just becuse you born in upper class you are not intellegent. It was his trade , just read, read and write. Can a so called upper class know how to plough, when to put the seed? How to fix a tubelight? but they are train to give answer 2X 2 = 4; Instead of picking up the best brain by spending lakhs of rupees by conducting examination and educate and train them with taxpayers money, to send them to foreign comany, it is better to send a reserved people into such institute who are good to work in Indian companies. One become good manager not just because what You study, but what you practice. We do not need companies from abroad to come for campus reqruitment, we wnat them to serve in Indian companies.

by shreedarshan on Aug 30, 2006 10:54 AM  Permalink

I completely agree . Its high time that reservations for higher education is completely removed. Only then will merit have its value. It is important that the government stops this and concertrates on improving primary education.
