With all due respects: This is height of bigotry
by Hari N on Aug 28, 2006 10:25 PM  Permalink

Lets first give the fair share of local mineral wealth to our "backward" states in our east starting from Assam to Jharkand. Then we can go "stand by our Baloch brothers". Also it is time to realise that tit for tat never worked in India's favour. Let us also realize that an unstable fragmented Pakistan is not in favour of India's future. Please note I am not asking to surrender our country/pride to Pakistan.

India must stand by the Balochs
by Abhik RayChaudhury on Aug 28, 2006 09:53 PM  Permalink

Fantastic article. Thanks to Rediff and Mr. Raman. Indian government has already come out with its support towards the Baloch people (something that tells me its getting a little matured in dealing with the failed state). I too hope that the Brave people of Balochistan will keep on fighting till they get what they rightfully deserve.

Bugti\'s Killing

Balochistan never signed accession to Pakistan. It was annexed by Pakistan military in 1948 with British help.

As for Kashmir, The Maharaja formally signed to merge with Hindustan (India). It is not only morally a part of India (for last several thousand years) but also legally a part of India.

The Indian govt should lend its whole-hearted moral support to the balochis.

What sort of govt will use its Air-force & Gunships on its own people. This clearly shows the contempt towards the balochis.

Balochis, unfortunately, are in exile, in their own country. They should assert their power & claim their independence.

Balochistan issue

I don't think India should meddle in the internal affairs of Pakistan, just as it expects Pakistan not to meddle in its internal affairs.

But, Pakistan continues to meddle with internal affairs of India, so India too must meddle with internal affairs of Pakistan. What do you say? There can't be two different rules for two different people. The same rule must apply to everyone.

Hi Nicole,

You are right but the fact of matter is that Pakistan is openly supporting Cross border terrorism and Militancy. Has a say in all Muslim parties and outlawed outfits working from Kashmir.

I think that I have awakened you from innocence

In what kind of a world do you live in Nichole ? The only aim of Paki establishment is destroying India. They know, they can't win a war. But they can definitely win a proxy war against us. Destroying India is the only common idea that keeps these Pakis united.

Whether or not India "expects" the Pakis not to support this elements in Punjab, Kashmir etc., they will continue to support them with funds, training, arms etc. This is the only evil country in the world, a country born out of lies, a country that can't live us in peace. If they have nothing to worry about inside their country, they will export terror. The only way to stop this, is engaging the Pakis in their domestic problems so much that they don't have the time & resources to do something elsewhere.

We have broken the Pakis once into 2 pieces. Hell, we are gonna do that again. And that's the Indian "expectation".

Dear Vikram,

Ageed we need to think like chaanakya, See china, it made pakistam millitary strong to dialute indian threat. It solves one problem for them.

but we think like pakis, what they done with afghan, spoled there own country, now they don't see eye-eye.

i hope we don't solve pakistan threat by supporting baloch, only will spoil our standing.

we may need a beeter agressive forign policy.

Hello Padma, you must realise that it is the other way round. Pakistan aids and abets terrorism in India, it trains terrorists in its army camps in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) and uses them to commit atrocities in India. If Pakistan calls terrorists as FREEDOM FIGHTERS, why can't we do the same? Learn to think clearly! At least now, start thinking like an Indian. If at all you are aware of what is happening in India, you will not write like this. It is precisely this senseless thinking like yours, that has landed India in problems with all its neighbours. Be friendly to friends and be hostile to enemies --- that is the perfect policy. The Gandhian ideal of "If he slaps on your cheek, show the other cheek", is utterly idiotic and has landed the country in deep crap. Enough of this! If you can't think clearly, keep quiet!

Support the Baloch Nationalists
by C V R Bharati on Aug 28, 2006 06:10 PM  Permalink

We need to support poor Balochis who are at the receiving end of Pakistans genocidal campaign. How can Pakistan use such a brutal force to attack and kill an old man in his eighties.
It is in our interest to see that Balochis are not subjugated and decimated by Pakistani Army. We should use diplomatic measures available to isolate Pakistni government on this issue in the world. Simulatneously, we should team up with Afghanistan and provide material and technical support to Balochistani freedom fighters. That is one way we can control Pakistan. And Afghanistan also gets benefitted because, its border with Pakistan gets reduced or eliminated and it will have a friendly neighblur in Balochistan.

Enemy of my enemy is my friend! India should support Baloch freedom fighters, a very noble thought, indeed! Pakistan is also supporting Kashmir freedom fighters; but to Indians, these Kashmiri freedom fighters are bloody terrorists!

Baluchistan fighting is no doubt a call for liberisation. What things we will gain here, by partition, and what conditions should be kept in indian minds for the betterment of hindus mainly.
1)We need to make both carve out Sindhistan and Baluchistan from pakistan which will restrict them from sea transit.
2)We need to convince them, that Baluchistan never wished to be part of pakistan , since 1947, as the great leader Palay Khan wanted to be part of India, instead of Pakistan, hence Sindh and Baluchisthan , be part of India, even if not achieved, the total military and religious& minorities and external affairs must be full control of India.
3)We need to have a pact, that the oil transit via Baluchistan and Sindh to Iran be easily facilitated and its land parliamentary matters need to reviewed at regular intervals by Indian Govt.
4)There should be reservations for the jobs and education , pilgrimage for religious minorities like hindus and sikhs.
5)There land can be accessed by Indian Army , if any anti-hindu , anti-india elements found, and hence must be assured!
6)If they are sovereign countries, they can never declare themselves as Islamic country,at any condition.
