These 12 culprits must be punished !!
by Divakar Singh Yadav on Aug 25, 2006 02:36 PM  Permalink

I was surprised and rather shocked to see that some twelve odd passengers were under suspicion behind emergency landing of Mumbai bound aircraft. In my knowledge it was the first news when the Indian or Indian borned people were blamed. It was not only aired through television in India but it was a major concern in UK as well, as many channel BBC, SKY, EuroNews etc were reporting this matter. It appears from the statement of fellow passengers that these 12 people are culprit of act of rowdy, indecent behaviour whose act has not only created a furore across world but also brought a bad name to the our country. I strongly argue when they return to India, they must be prosecuted for the charge of defaming the image of India ( still known for its values of peace and harmony, and so all Indians ) and disrupting the international peace.

they deserved it
by AM on Aug 25, 2006 02:20 PM  Permalink

this was waiting to happen.
We Indians just dont give a damn to any rules anywhere, irrespective of any religion. We are happy to put trash in front of our neighbour's garden, cross lanes while driving, spit on platforms and staircases, cross level-crossings on red signal, switch on our mobiles even before the aircraft has stopped taxying.. the list goes on. All this disregard in spite of being educated and rules warning us to the contrary.
This incident may have a knee-jerk reaction and deter any other from doing so, but only till the next violation by an Indian is pulled up elsewhere.

Prevention is always better than cure

I would say Bravo to the flight crews who acted on this issue in a very quick way to avoid any funny activities by the passengers. Their great work had saved all the passengers in the flight.

decorum
by ashok gupta on Aug 25, 2006 01:56 PM  Permalink

Lets take a good hard look at ourselves-dont we get peeved at the behaviour of our fellow men at airports check in counters/train compartments/aircrafts.I canot understand why the media has hinted at racicial discrimination and NDTV even had a panel to discuss this. I think the airline was justified in their actions and the passengers are now let off. The other side is if there was infact a sevurity threat and the airline had not acted then everybody would have singled out the airline again. Safety is of prime concern at the moment and lets not get carried away by Nationalism or any ism.

Charge them
by Madhu on Aug 25, 2006 01:53 PM  Permalink

There ought to be some Civil Aviation law under which people who do not heed to the advise/instructions of the air stewards can be charged especially when it concerns using of banned articles like mobile phones on the plane. Whatever punishment they get will be insufficient, they derseve more than they will get for the inconvienence they have caused.

right treatment , a lesson they will never forget in their life.
by K..S.SHASTRY on Aug 25, 2006 01:51 PM  Permalink

They deserve this treatment, and this is a lesson to them, and others. There are some systems to be followed. When you cannot follow the rules of the aircraft better don't travel, these set of people cause problems to co passengers and crew.

air passengers woes
by partha biswas on Aug 25, 2006 01:42 PM  Permalink

It is the behaviour of the persons concerned that got the goat of the marshalls and under the circumstances what was done was inevitable.Regardless from what community the group belongs, too much of non-chalance,especially under the circumstances prevailing, will lead to such precautionary acts without let or hindrance.Hopefully the matter is viewed in the light as should be, and NOT the one of persecution of a select community, which must be acknowledged as the most appropriate act that could have been taken.Let not anyone soft peddle or look for other motives. This should be taken as an eye-opener by all and sundry, and in the correct perspective.

North West passengers detention
by A.MATIN on Aug 25, 2006 01:40 PM  Permalink

Dear sir ,
I feel that we as Indians should learn to respect and obey instructions given by the Airline .
Its often found that we have acquired a Chalta Hai attitude in India .
During take offs and landing educated passengers do not switch off mobiles or listen to stewards instructions not to do so.
This chalta hai attitude has landed the other passengers into trouble as well.

At a time when vigilance is stepped up both at home and abroard these passengers should have paid heed to warnings to Air Marshalls .

Not only the Dutch Govt but the Indian govt should take stern action against the Indians who put us into such inconvenience .
