Well let me start by taking example of 12 indian who were taken in custody during travel...well i suppose all were adults and if these so calls adults do not have manner of switching off their mobile phones and putting their seat belts i would say this is lack of basic education and values that family imparts in child..i am not blaming them but so called minority here in india dont want to be progressive and get education and over that they cry we are poor what do u expect us to do Feed them for free... well if we take out the percentage if people paying income tax from that particular minority i would say it would not even touch 1%... well this is democratic country u can express ur views but we indians wont accept u taking our rallies with posters or osama and calling for holy wars at time for prayer ... nice that u r being profiled u deserve it... as 99% of terrorist are product of ur religion just thanks them that they still take ur on filght. ;-)
The article incorrectly correlates the two incidents. Firstly, those twelve men arrested were inapproriately misbehaving with the crew. That's the reason why those people were detained. The same goes for the second incident involving the Malayali crew. Not because they were bearded or speaking different language. Considering the extra security after 9/11 attacks, can't the people be more co-operative with the airline guys. Media sucks on such issues because rather pointing at what those detained guys were doing, they seem to emphasize on their color, language, community, etc. Can't they be rational on such issues, the rationality which is natural to all human beings. Already there is so much hate and confusion between the communities. After this I don't wonder if certain Indians become angry and decide to teach 'the White Man' a lesson. They say Indians are mistreated, but then I can point the same thing for Muslims. How many times have you greeted gracefully a Muslim wearing a beard ,kurta and a Muslim cap? I urge all to please think rationally which is not confined to any colour barrier. If any crime is committed, let the law judge and not the religious clerks.
Media people should think neutral before coming into conclusion. i believe today some media for the sake of money they make an abrupt news(like this one). Its just a routine carried out in any country by security personnel when something looks suspicious or terrified.
Some media make its as a heat of situtation and creates panic in the local as well in ther international community.
I believe personally, the terriost activities can be ended only people of all level & community understand the value of a life(which they can't bring it).
STOP using N'West ! They're already in the red and probably Mumbai sector is one sectors that makes some money. So what happens no desi wants to fly with them.
I am a very frequent traveller here in the US. I have NOT expeirenced even ONCE, any kind of descrimination / harrasment. Why? Becuase I know how to behave in any public place. These twelve deserved what they got. One cannot ignore the basic instruction of the flight crew such as 1) Please fasten your seat belts 2) please donot move about while the fasten seat belt sign is ON 3) Do not change your seats before informing the flight attendets ( especially during take off and landing) and 4) Donot use cell phones except when parked at a gate. It appears to me that these \" business\" men are nothing but a bunch of \" illiterate \" idiots giving the rest of Indians and India a bad name. Such people should be sent for basic etiquette ( at their own expense as they can afford it being \" business men\") training before being allowed to go overseas again. becuse as I said , they give India a bad name. India is becomeing a Global power, and I think it is about time out people represent that image when travelling abroad.
Long before this incident, the'whites' have always thought of coloureds as inferior coolies, I refuse ro fly any white airline... . Particularly, British Airways, Quantas, PANAM,even Luthansa... Have travelled on all of these and been treated as though it hurt them to serve us! I have heard one should avoid El Al ,Aeroflot, Banglabiman & Srilankan Airways, from other passengers, for other reasons such as safety & food as well On Cathay,Thai, Singapore,Emirates, Alitalia & Air India , one feels good. I dont know about the other mid eastern Airways, though have heard good reviews also about Gulf Air
I had a seen a movie looong back when I was young... where a black person is in a little funny situation... and he would curse the whole world thinking, bad things were happening (or being done to him) becasue he was black... and his co-star says "You have an attitude where in, even if it rains, you will think , it is raining on you becasue you are black"!! :) Though there are some very rational muslim friends of mine... i see some ( a very few... who spoil the name of the rest of the clan) who similar to the black guy in the movie, think anything bad that happens... is becasue they are muslims... hypersensitive and highly insecure. I am sure majority of my muslim friends will agree with me... only a few over-react over certain issues... and the media too plays a pretty good role... in highlighting what these few people do/say. Would definitely like to know rediff viewers response to this. Indian
This is nonsense. Whatever you said in the above titled write-up does not mean any discrimination. All people should maintain certain level of decency and respect for others as well as the disciplinary codes, when we mingle with different nationalites and/or when we join them in a common task. One should not take too much for granted when availing a public utility and of course should not challenge common code of law. One should learn to respect others and the code of law where ever they are, while enjoying ones own freedom.
Hi friend I agree to your point 50%. I would like you to know one important matter that happened when Prophet Mohammad Nabi claimed that he got Quran almost 600 years after Jesus Christ. Jesus was reading Bible which came into this world much before Quran. In Bible it says Abraham(Ibrahim)'s first wife is Sarah and second wife is Agar to whom IShmael was born before Isaac was born to Sarah. But in Quran which came after 600 years(APPROX) Bible, it says Ibrahim(Abraham)'s first wife is Agar and second wife is Sarah. Here started the conflict in this world. Which is correct? The Bible which came first before Quran is correct? or Quran which came 600 years after Bible is correct? Why is the contradiction in Quran? who is behind this? if it is God we need not have this God who confuses people of this world. or if it is man we should not follow him. So if the world understands this and takes serious steps to solve this issue I tell you no body is going to racist or muslim profiled. Am I right or wrong my dear friend? Please answer me personally to my mail ID ssundarss@rediffmail.com bye take care
12 people having indian passports, got detained due to their stupid behavious on board a foreign airline, came to Mumbai and said they had problem of language, mis understanding and also they were tired besides that they flew 22houors from Trinidad to Amsterdam and were "just looking features of cell phones they bought at Trinidad as it was cheapest". Well - they did not verify while buying, nor did they try during 22hours travel and waits during the travel. They were excited to test/try these once aboard at Amsterdam? how come NW AIRLINES crew to know they are travelling all the way from Trinidad?? this is not a direct flight. What ever it is, these 12 idiots have put other travellers who are non-mislims in problem with UK asking for advance information of a traveller, even if he is a visa holder. Now many have to give reasons for travel before hand and also face doubtful looks at all western airports. These 12 must be booked atleast in India for causing national disrepute, and the TV channels who started the racial outlook cry, must be also penalised. it is time, Govt of India brings in some kind of censor rules preventing TV channels going on air premature.
