Why wouldn't a Muslim salute his land? Every one, not just a muslim, knows that a piece of land is not to be equated with Godhood. But nevertheless, a healthy respect to the environment that a country like India creates can be and should be expressed by all who live in the country. Why wouldn't a Muslim sing Vande Mataram? Muslims have been very clear about their stand, not just in the Vande Mataram issue. They will not respect an other religion nor will they respect a country (environment) that has given birth to another religion, nor will they even sing in a language (sanskrit), which they think is representative of another culture, not Islamic. How come all Muslims are united in allowing a fanatic Imam to be their representative? Why won't they come out and say that the Imam is not talking what the Muslims think, if they like to sing the song? Thats because a Muslim's core religious works such as the Quraan and the Shariat are intolerant to other religions. Not just a few misguided muslims, but the root of islam is intolerant. Nobody can offer peace to Islam. If we attempt, we will get bitten, like India is getting bitten by Pakistan right now. Such a pity!
My understanding of the given situation is that the minority community seems to have a reservation of considering Bhaarat Maata and a vandana to her as it contradicts their understanding of the almighty or methods to praise him in masculine form. But all this controversy arose in deep contrast to what we see in the national anthem where it says "adhinaayaka jaya he" which apperently refers to glorifying the non existant ruler or emperor in masculine form. If we refer to our country as motherland or a nation (this word is derived from the root natal refering to womb)then we should have no hinderence in singing the Vandee Maataram loud and clear.
why the poltical parties are divided to us.what they want,if u staing in india must be singing the national song, whatever in india everybody must be respansbility.if some person/any community think different it's not accept.if u live in india then must be sing the national song, otherwise left in india, this is my own comment
I am proud to be an Indian and every Indian irrespective of religion should respect motherland and feel proud. If we can not sing VANDE MATARAM ,How can we respect our own mother and praise her.
I read so many views, and majority of Indians(Muslims as well as Hindus) are in faovour of singing this beautiful song, which is for our motherland. It is good to see views of our some muslim brothers who have some doubts in singing this. But it is a request to them that dear brothers please do get indulge yourself in dirty polittics of Hindu or Muslim politicians, because I have doubt how much they care of their motherland. Please read maximum views with mind open, it is not worshipping any idol. It is something just to express your feelings towards your country, that you love, you respect, you care... Please dont go by words. Because may be some day any politician will come and say that we should not use word "INDIAN", we should use something else and we will be on debate again.
'Vande Mataram' is a song that glorifies our own Motherland. Wonder!!! How/Why it is seen in the communal frame work and becoming an issue to debate?? Its very much analogous to singing national anthem during Indpendence day or Republic day. Ergo, singing Vande Mataram means being loyal to once own Nation (Motherland) rather it is mandatory or not??
None of the Muslims has any problem praising the Motherland or for that matter singing any patriotic song (which is concept of many posted messages here) but the fact lies in the fact that one need not bow down or worship motherland to show the respect or love towards it. No Muslim has opposed to singing Jana Gana. Or Sare Jaha Se acha.
Personally I do not have any opposition to singing the song Vande Mataram, taking the fact that the above mentioned line is only used as mark of respect towards the motherland and not really bowing down or worshipping it.
But when the Sangh Parivar Outfits use it as a ploy to force me to worship or bow down towards Motherland (not the respect for motherland) or force upon Hindu Rituals and they mention that if you do not worship Motherland then you are a traitor (in their words), many Muslims including me will have problems.
Here if you are not in the lines of Sangh Parivar Nationalism, then mind that you are either a traitor, an ISI Agent or a Pakistani Spy.
For the replies towards Ayaz Chamdia message posted here, it very much true that the Muslim contributions towards freedom Struggle had been phenomenal
It is disheartening to see that the majority of messages posted show just one thing-hatred towards the muslims. It had been seen that time and again Rediff is using all the situations necessary for more muslim bashing and moving closer towards becoming a sangh parivar site.
First of all the issue with Vande Mataram- How many who had posted the message here knows meaning of the song Vande Mataram?
It seems no body here wants to know the reason behind the opposition or the meaning song Vande Mataram but indulge in more Muslim bashing.
The reason behind opposition lies in the fact in a line in the song Vande Mantram mentions that we worship the motherland or we bow down towards motherland which is contrary to the fact that Muslims are only allowed to worship god. For every muslim, it is part of their religious belief to have love and respect for their motherland and none here posted has the right to question to their Patriotism.
Vande Mataram should be recited essentially by every Indian for two main reasons. One It has been the main source of Indian Indepenedence Struggle for patriots like Ashfaak Ullah Khan & many more. Second as it has been declared as our National Song since 1947.
All persons opposing this patriotic song or defaming it by making it optional should be punished as Anit Nationals. They are just making the jobs of terrorists easier!!!!!!
