Hi Raja Mohan,
If every Indian thinks like the way U, I and other secular persons think, then this country is a real heaven on this earth. Acc. to one poet...TU DHOOND FALAK PE BAAGH-E-ARAM APNA TO AQEEDA HAI RASHID
JIS QAAK PE DO DIL PYAAR KARE WOH QAAK BHI JANNAT HOTI HAI;
If we INDIANS stay united, work for each other (like we used to do before) even the pakistan will feel ashame while sending the so-called terrorist to INDIA, No country in the world can match the INDIA and its proved. America is developed so much but who are behind them, take all the INDIANS out of America, then c how the economy of America falls. and its also proved that INDIA gets most of the sunlight than any other country in the world. every one knows these facts but we indians only don't know....b'coz we spend our time in fighting over pretty issues, we fight over religion, but we never fight to come forward to develop this country, first develop INDIA then fight over pretty things....

Hi Azharudhin,
I agree 100%.
While there are many other serious problems we spend lot of time on these relatively less important issues.

work for the basics first , then fight over songs......!
by S.K.Azharuddin on Sep 06, 2006 02:18 PM  Permalink

there are more serious issues than vande mataram. No body comes forward to help the poor, to build the roads, to take care of innocent children who have lost their parents...most of us are corrupted..at that time we people dont have the timeat that time the nationhood and ur identity wont wake you up! most of us even don't have the basic needs....but these parties like BJP, VHP, RSS (congress as well).... won't concentrate on those serious issues. they want some controvencies so that they can again come to power, and the people easily come in their words... we Indians are always the victims of emotional blackmail, whether its right or wrong we don't see. these people (and parties) think that if some one sings vande matarm, he is a true Indian, but they forget that an Indian is not who sings some songs, but the one who dies for the country, an Indian is not who waste his time and energy on waste topics, but the one who uses his time to serve the country in better way.... even if now we Indians don' wake up... and don't stop on those silly matters... then God also can't save us...Acc to poet..NA SAMJHOGE TO MIT JAOGE AYE HINDUATAAN WALO
TUMHAARI DAASTAN BHI NA HOGI DAASTANO MEIN

vande mataram
by farooq shaikh on Sep 06, 2006 12:24 PM  Permalink

hello dear all if vande mataram means bowing to land godess or worshipping, than I am 100% against it but if it means to salute the land or die for the land or respect to the land then i am with it and if the word meaning is to worship land then every true muslim will be against it and will not sing vande mataram because there is only one God which we muslim worship. respect and patriotism does not mean to worship. that is the concept of idol worshipper that everything is god but we muslim say everything belongs to God.
if that thing is enforced on us we will definately revolt not by attacking but by not singing that song and do what they can we muslim we make our foot hold strong. make a song that sounds patriotic and love for our country not worshiping.
we indian muslim will sing very proudly.

Are we taking democracy for granted.
by krishna on Sep 06, 2006 10:50 AM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

It pains to hear debate on issue of Vande Mataram. it is insult to all those who shed their blood irrespective of their religion to call Vande Mataram a song. BEcause it was more than that.It is not even a question of patriotism. you can be patriot even without singing Vande Mataram. However the point is why one should object it just because of political reasons. it is not a question of Hindu or Muslim religion because you can find many hindus not knowing vande mataram. It is a question of feeling proud of your country and all those who faught for freedom. As a true Indian we all should respect this song. I request all indians to forget this debate and respect Vande Mataram. if you don't want to sing it don't sing but stop talking about validity of this as national anthem. don't take democracy for granted.

What Vande Mataram means to me and every one
by Anand Kumar on Sep 06, 2006 09:02 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It means "VANDE MATA ROME" nothing more, nothing less.
Can't not some body file suit against a parliamentarian for disallowing the National Song to be recited by Indians inside parliament?

Hey man open your eyes!

When you say that AR Rahman can sing why not all muslims?

When Yousuf Youhanna can become Mohammed Yousuf, why not all? When Classius Clay can become Mohammel Ali, why not all? When Cat Stevens can become yusuf Islam, why not all? When Joda bai can marry Akbar why not all?

No hard feeling, just want to give you some examples, in contrast to your example, when AR Rahman can sing why not all muslims?

I hope now you will not say that statement again!

If ARRahman can sing it then why not others?
by Sudhir on Sep 05, 2006 07:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi all,

I have grown adoring ARRahman for his religious faith, respect towards his mother, patriotism etc....he is also a Muslim, so if he such a patriotic, religious guy can sing it, then why not others from his religion???

moreover, it is respect for ur mother too, u can take it that way....isnt it??

Hi Sudhir, its AR Rahman's wish to sing the song, if he wants to sing that song, he can sing it, nobody has forced him or told him to sing the song, he sang the song b'coz he wanted to sing the song, but u can't force others to sing the same song. if u r interested in singing the same song, u r also free to sing the song. if I am not intersted in singing the song, no one can force me to sing the song. I think I used words like "sing" "song" quite more times............
