Its not about their religion but about their actions.
by A.C on Aug 25, 2006 07:43 AM  Permalink

I think its unfair to make it a religious issue. They were not detained cause they are Muslims but because they were behaving in a very suspicious manner. I have travelled by air all my life and i dont see why as the reports have said, would these men take off their seat belts and get out of their seats when the sign are still on to keep them on.
In post 9/11 world we can not take chances. The security personal did the right thing. After 9/11 we can not take any chances.Passangers need to follow the rules and not behave in any manner that would alert the security.
Why on earth would you take a cell phone out and pass it around when you are not allowed to use it in the plan ? Knowing the fact that they have been used as bomb triggers in recent attacks in Spain.
These individuals acted in a very stupid manner and have caused a lot of inconvenience. I have no sympathy for them. I think they should be fined in some way for their actions.

Detainees
by jaya on Aug 25, 2006 06:43 AM  Permalink

Can't they follow the guidelines set by the airlines.
These people should be fined for using cell phones
before they are set free. This can endanger innocent lives. Now they know when innocent lives are lost.
So be careful, you cannot be aggressive and parade with
a group in the aisle. How dumb can one be? Prevention is better always. So a lesson has been learnt right?
Also tell your bretheren that they have give innocent
people and religion a bad name. Nowhere they can
be trusted.

if beard is the issue, why don't they remove it??
by dada on Aug 25, 2006 06:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I understand it is personal choice. If only the beard is causing them to be identified as muslims and detained everywhere they go, why can't they just remove it?? It has nothing to do with religion to have a beard, I am pretty sure about it. It is something the Muslims in the medieval age had had to make an identity. Why does the beard give the suspicion? It is because all the terrorists who claim responsibility through television for their actions have beards. So, why the common man remove his beard and leave the terrorists alone have theirs to make a distinction, so that they could be caught easily. Having a beard and making it difficult for authorities is in no way helping, it makes others feel that these common man are also supporting their terrorist same religion men. I don't want to believe that but it clearly makes one's thought wander there. So, if you are a common man, please remove your beard and don't call for trouble. If you still want to keep your beard, suffer without shouting.

yes
you are right.
The common muslim should keep aside from the so called Jihadis. Then no suspicion will take place.

Detained Indians
by Howard on Aug 25, 2006 05:46 AM  Permalink

It has proved out that the detained Indians on the flight from Amsterdam were not terrorists - and of that I am glad and hope that the families can get over it. However, it does prove, and not because, I am sure, that there were 12 Muslims sitting together, but because it appears that they can't follow directions/instructions with respect to cell phones, laptops, not sitting down when told, keeping their seat belts fastened when instructed (BBC comments as on 25 August). Poor behaviour has led to this situation - not that they are Muslim, wearing beards and the like.

Few bad people are bringing bad name to whole community
by ps on Aug 25, 2006 05:42 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A normal citizen should think
1. Whether, without the local help, be it providing logistic, shelter, giving the details of importance of the place where the terrorist act would make maximum impact, any outsider (i.e. terrorist), can execute such massacre.
2. Whether the other people might not be providing any direct help but are totally unaware about the people who are providing help to the terrorist. The motives of so-called citizens are clear. In fact they are also passive terrorists.
3. Why the intellectual and progressive people from the same community do not come forward, condemn such drastic acts and do not continuously educated and brain washes their community people to refrain from such activities, help the police etc., otherwise they would be marginalized. In fact in many countries these community is under scanner and even in our county also the people suspects. Why such innocent people should come under scanner just because of community.
4. Whether all these are in the name of religion and community (jaat-bhai).
5. Patriots should awake and fight against such hidden terrorists.

Excellnt piece of points,

Here the question is , they say 'Vande Mataram' is Anti Islamic ....gvng some justification...but is Terrorism ( Sorry Jihad! ) Anti-Islamic!? Since the same set of ppl doesnot have any say on 7/11, 9/11, or this Dutch incidence, or when the largest Idle of Budha was destroyed in Taliban few years ago!?

I am just being honest in asking these, no cast/religion politics pls

We are not terrorist
by Norl on Aug 25, 2006 05:36 AM  Permalink

I totally agree with the Airline crew and Dutch police for their actions, as the group of 12 are not abiding the rules and regulations laid by the airline industries. Especially some Indians behave weirdly, and not heeding to the advises of the airline staff. Its a life time lesson for them.
