Ravi,

Your statement is inmatured. You were targeting tamiliens rather than problems in our country. There are some cases in AP also. Keep in mind.

Some people are not bullish!!!
by RAVI on Aug 23, 2006 10:44 PM  Permalink

He has painted too rosy picture, idealistic scenario. We know how to live together!!! Go and see your home state of Tamilnadu... Lot of people in this country are branded as Upper castes irrespective of their economical/social status and they are being discriminated by selfish politicians. Politicians argue that Rich/Elite should grasp seats of even from poor of other communities, our PM accept it fearing that he will be branded as Upper caste supporter. Everybody knows injustice is being done to section of society but nobody has guts to say openly. Nobody opposes Govt support for weaker sections. But in this country, Karunanidhi family is considered as weaker section and poor priest who lives in village and earns Rs 300 per months is considered as Socially advanced person.

tolerance
by indi on Aug 23, 2006 10:23 PM  Permalink

Yes, I like the article too. But arent we humans all over the world. Why does the humanity stop at the indian border? I believe, that no nation is better than the other. Doesnt matter what colour our skin has, what religion we believe in. Most problems occure because we think that we are better than the others. That our believe is the truth. No country has the right to dictate the others what to do, no person has the right to tell somebody else what this one has to believe. I believe in the religion of humanity.
And this always starts in front of our door.
Did you forget the problems between india and pakistan, between india and kashmir? Did you forget the bombs in Mumbai? Where is the tolerance there?
It is most important that we get known to eachother. Knowing about others makes us tolerant. Because unknown things makes as fear, makes us insecure.
Acceptance is the most important thing. Accept the diversity, and see this as what it is: the wonderful brightness, the exciting adventure of getting known to different things. How boring would it be to eat the same every day, to wear the same clothes, to hear the same music.
But this doesnt stop at the border of india.

What an awesome thought Mr. Dasarathi. If only all the Indians could understand this, India would be the best place to live in this world.

Kudos to rediff for such a wonderful article. Articles like these which have the vein of unity are much appreciated and loved rather than the ones that create disharmony and hatred.

Thanks guys, Jai hind.

by Rahul on Aug 23, 2006 08:01 PM  Permalink

Thanks GV. This is the most wonderful article that I have read since a long, long time. You have portrayed the true picture of India that all of us need to see -- not just we Indians, but every citizen of our wonderful Earth. The portrait you have made is not imaginary at all. It's fully alive and visible in every part of our colourful country. I will forward it to everyone who I know, and I hope to see your writings more often :)
