"Isn't it ironical that a gas agency can be released to any Tom, Dick or Harry on one recommendation from a Member of Parliament or even a legislator; but a similar request from an artist like me for none other than my own grandson carries no value."
Musicians, sportspersons, artists and such other talented people who keep on entertaining our society spiritually and emotionally seldom get their due reward in their life time. We need to engage ourselves in regular and collective examination of conscience and find out ways and means to uphold and promote the finer and sublime talents of our people. Otherwise how can we expect younger generations to give expression to the talents and blessings, nature has endowed them with. If all their energies and efforts have to be spent for basic survival then we have not progressed far enough. We are still at level one which my late father would call " first Potobha than Vitobha " !
It is indeed a irony that our leaders showered so much praise and the country gave the Ustad so many honours but they gave him only a lip service on matters which concerned his family's livelyhood. Hope and pray that we should show more sensitivity to such issues and govt acts for their redressal.
Its funny to see all the media coverage on Ustad's death. Presidents and Prime Ministers "mourn" deeply after the artists' death but dont care a dime when he/she is alive. I do understand that he must have planned his finances and family [At the time of his death, 70 people were dependent on him!].
KhanSaheb was one of the greatest musicians on India. He was true gem and indeed deserves all the respect and accolades. What is unfortunate here is that his family using his name wnats the support...its amazing that his family expects a 91 year old man to feed the whole family, why can't they go geta job like everyone else if they don't have the talent to play like KhanShaib...The Govt shouldn't give anything to these free loaders..they are a disgrace to his memory...Jai Hind
