i got d news at around 10.30 abt mahim n instantly went to check d water at gorai beach as m a resident of gorai i personally tasted d water which was definitely sweet then i bought 2 bottles at home wherein my entire family tasted n assured d sweet taste
Hi, I am Debashis from Vasant scribes limited, Hyderabad alerting all citizens from Mumbai. As all we know sea water contains a lot of minerals to make it salty, yesterday rumor attracted a lot of mumbaikars to taste sea water in Mahim. I request all of my mumbaikars not to drink water even taste it. It may contain a lot of toxic materials which have overridden the salty properties of sea water.
this can be due to subsurface flow of groundwater from land following heavy recharge/ a sort of groundwater intrusion into the shore diluting the salinity which varies at the intertidal zones/ it is risky to consume untested water/ may be it gets polluted by people also seen using all kinds of containers..
from 2300 hrs on 18th, August news flow starts from all the news channel "Aj Tak, Zee news, Star news & NDTV" that sea water at Mahim beatch become sweet. it was surprised that channels personnels were rushed to the site for coverage. But non off the channel represantative confirmed by them selve that the news are true or fals. in such a case when such rumers starts, media should play the vital role to curb such supersitious news, instead of highlighting them by giving wide publishity.

Scientifically it can be prooven that fresh water in large quantity is flowing into the sea from a source very near or from underthe sea . This source will gradually subside with the monsoon rains . this in response to your metha pani episode. It is very correctly pointed out by the writer that excess rain water was mixed in sea water. This happens in the monsoon nobody has tasted earlier. But as all of us has a curiosity and legasy inherited by us from our parents that what others do we do ourselves.This time after long long period indian people have time to go on picnic at sea they tasted sea water and compared with the water they daily drink they found sea water little bit sweeter. One more thing their tastebud has changed according to situation because the water supplied by borewells/Municipal corp. is tasting very similar to that of seawater(Khara) due to execive use of ground water water level has gone down rapidly. matching sea level
It's anti-Islamic to believe that this miracle has happened b'cause of the Dargah.There's Sahih Hadith that a dead person can do nothing for you except 3 things: 1. ILM .. the benifit gained and spread by his knowledge , research and education. 2. Sadaqua Jaaria.. the good work he has done while living to cause benifit to humankind at large like construction of roads, education centres etc. 3. It should not be very much surprising. Current situation can be attribute to the excess monsoon rains which has contribute to the sea water. Fresh water is lighter as compared to sea water which is heavier. Thus the lighter fresh water layer will float on the more dense heavy sea water. it is known that transition zone exists between fresh and saline water. Same is true in dug wells near to the coast which have fresh water on the top and any excess withdrawal leads toe water becoming brackish and saline. (Ghyben Herzbergs relationship can be referred)
As i m in UAE and just got this news yesterday on 89.1FM Radio while listining, i just want to know as can we use this water if it is really sweet in our home (Miracle he sahi), and how long the water will be sweet in salty ocean
