why this i-day is doubly special
by rms manian on Aug 15, 2006 07:44 AM  Permalink

The current politics in India is rubbish. To understand the essence of this article and follow the path of Bhagavat Geeth, a new type of politics namely spiritual politics should emerge in India. Until then India's freedom will be only on paper.

Independence
by R Velagapudi on Aug 15, 2006 04:26 AM  Permalink

One more year, one more day to celebrate. But how long we will
celebrate for the past victories, are we focusing on present India,
Independent India. I feel, British left India physically, leaving their
crude and rude idealisms with our rulers, the hierarchy still persists
and capitalism rules. Its time to think how to get remove these
illnesses from India, the British left diseases. As Mr. President
mentioned once, we need to fight against corruption, the root cause
for our backwardness, we should fight against red tapesim. There are
very few things we need to think to change

1.      Removing corruption
2.      Reminding the public servants their duties (people or not
dependent on them, they are dependent on people)
3.      Increasing literacy throughout the nation
4.      Knowledge about politics (who should rule and how)

By gaining these things we can celebrate true Independence.
Remember the past, change the future.

I really appriciate your column. Its filled with beautiful philosophy and references. But the question that lingers in my mind is, inspite of such beautiful knowledge that you posses, why do you call youself an atheist? Or what definition do you use for atheist?

What a wonderful article
by Rajeev on Aug 14, 2006 11:46 PM  Permalink

Hi,

This article is a true salute to our independence. It is shame that we are respecting western culture more than our rich Indian culture. I agree there are quite a few things that we can learn from western countries but not at the expense of not respecting our culture & traditional values. These values have been proven over the years & irony is world respects us for that.

Hats off to the Anil Athale for despicting the current state of Indian though process & atleast on the eve of 60th aniverssary of Independance lets take oat to respect our own culture & keep it alive.

Regards,
Rajeev

Why this I-Day is doubly special
by Anand on Aug 14, 2006 06:26 PM  Permalink

Colonel-Sahaab!
Bahut Badhiya! Badhaai ho! Sambhavami yuge yuge would make true sense only when we awaken the Eternal Lord Who resides in all of us. Let us pray that we can all work towads that end - to awaken the strength of The Divine in ourselves, to overcome the negativity and darkness that tends to envelope us. That is what attaining true Independence is all about!
