Well, we have to remove the negative aspects first, Corruption and ill deeds lies in all countries, no country is free from this, take America also to some extent corruption is there but too a super power, with great percent of indian minds working there, if all these could happen in India why not India can become a super power Just work hard and have divine mind, dont see bad things you stand up, and concentrate only good things happening and u too join that, So see, one day our Country too can become a superpower.
We should not forget that this is country where super souls have come across.

It is impossible to supply even good drinking water to a billion strong population. No point blaming the politicians - anyone in power would behave the same way because there is too much competition even for basic necessities. India has already passed the point of no return due to unsustainable population growth, pollution and destruction of the natural environment. We are insignificant in most areas of achievement, be it in science, technology, arts or most sports. Just having a huge unskilled labour force is useless. Progress in the modern day depends on quality of the human population, and not quantity, which is all we have.

Most of the great Indian minds started working in America after America became superpower. I like your positive attitude but it is very far from reality. The very first thing we lack is respect for fellow citizen. We are roughly over 1.1 billion citizens, i can't imiagine....all this.

India as a country, just does not possess the mindset to become even an ordinary power. Besides, what's the big deal being a super power in this day. The days of using military might to subdue countries with natural resources, is long past. Britain was the last imperial power and the USA was late on the scene as its ally. It worked fine till the end of the Cold war but now this concept has lost its importance.Today's world is about equitable distribtion of the worlds resources through mutually satisfying relationships between countries. So logically, India should aim for peace, security and prosperity for all its citizens in an interdependent world. All this talk about becoming a super power is not worth aiming for.
India cannot dream of a super power in the future as long as the present political system, politicians on caste basis, corruption, crime, extortions,rapes, goons, broke down of the law & order, desparity of the income levels, farmers bankcruptcy, un employment, children drop outs from schools,vide gap among villages and urban towns, no security of human lifes.
Why the reservations on caste basis. Politicians wanted the reservation to context. why? Why a child to be enrolled in school registers with the caste name. Why Caste given that much importance. Any where in the world the division among people is have & have nots.
Let the Caste Reservations stripped, edeucation to all, competance the criteria. Curruption is intolarable. The legislation to be made That a politician & buracrat who indulge in the corruption to be hanged within 24 hours are to be shot dead. So that no one will do corruption. How a politician & Burocrates earns crores & billions of rupee in short period.
Medical Education who is studying in private colleges and how political & burocrates paying huge capitation fee, it is whoose money. How Private institutions run with black money.
How'll India become a superpower ? Forget the laurels of Super power. Focus on overall growth and quality of life on common man. Eliminate corruption, Bring justice for all. The people power of India will automatically bring India to high. - Jai Hind !
India will never be a super power because the top nautches the beurocrats, ministers etc., are all criminallly motivated for selfish gains. more over despite the fact that india has the capability and brains to be a super-power, they will never be one. Yes they will be a super populated nation.
The way things are going here we can just dream about it . A nation which is being ruled by the politicians who have ruined Bihar cannot progress. We are one of the most taxed nations but there is no record of were that tax is being spent. Its a shame athat after 60 years of misrule by congress we donot have 24/7 electricity, water , public transport. Red tapism is in our blood and the likes of left parties would happily pull back the nation for another 500 years. This country is so scared of its tiny neighbours that even they continiously abuse our nation we would smile and say "once more please".We dont have the guts to fight internal and external threats.The most important thing is that we Indians love to break and bend rules be it simple traffic laws or any other rules. We should park this dream for of becoming a super power for at least a 1000 years. Lets learn to behave like a civilised nation first.
If India is depriving the real geneous by the way of RESERVATION, then India will become the World's GARBAGE and most notorious country by the end of 2010. DONKEY rules LION follows. Shame to all ..

The post by Rediff,inviting comments on how to make India a superpower is cruel on this land. My question is: Why should India become a super power?.Look at Sweden, Germany, Holland, and many other prosperous countries; these are not superpowers and neither do they aim to be.They go about their business and ensure that their citizens and their own environment are well cared for. This is all that we need to do. The vision of India propounded by our founding fathers such as Gandhiji, Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and even Sardar Patel never thought in these terms. They sought peaceful coexistence with all and sought to do all that was essential to see that our civilization remained alive, vibrant and creative. Why can't we do just that instead of harbouring visions of hegemony and projecting Military power beyond our shores? History is testimony, that being a superpower is not exactly glorious. Today, we are a young nation in terms of our average age. We had always been so for the last over 100 years because of the low life expectancy and high birth rate. There is nothing redeeming in being very young save hope.

We will be the super power in 2020 , if we will work like China . If china could be a super power why can't we , we are always wasting our energy in comparison with Pakistan ( which is nothing) and putting negative thoughts each and very where and also giving negative things to other people. We should think positively and work hard so that it will not become a Dream for our offsprings also to live in a developed nation. Jai Hind.
