Excellent Article
by Anuradha on Aug 01, 2006 06:49 PM  Permalink

Hi...this is a wonderful article. Sri Lanka definitely needs to come out of this situation and as rightly said, the politicians need to learn from their past mistakes.

by SETHUKARASU.R on Aug 01, 2006 06:33 PM  Permalink

Yes, I do agree with the author. In the same time we can't take the LTTE out of the Scene,

They are who brought the lankan govts autrocity to the the world.

They have major role to be part of peace process.I do agree before they must return to peace table.

Ridiculous
by Akshay on Aug 01, 2006 05:54 PM  Permalink

C Yogendran's article is nauseating to me. It is clear that the vast majority of SRI LANKAN Tamils support the violence of the LTTE. It certainly isn't a minority like he claims. I have seen how extremist Sri Lankan Tamils celebrate the assasination of Rajiv Gandhi, and to act like the rabbit is not going to fool anyone. Besides that there is a strong anti-Brahmin sentiment running through the Sri Lankan Tamil extremists and it is SRI LANKAN Tamil extremists who are running the separatist campaign in Tamil Nadu! The very place that is giving refuge to Sri Lankan Tamils running away from Sri Lanka is the breeding ground for separatism. India should never ever side with terrorists; we should be working to rid the entire region of the menace of terrorists and bring peace and prosperty to South Asia. The Tamil Tigers have attacked India and Indian soldiers on numerous occasions and continue to brag about "defeating" the 2nd largest army in the world. Sri Lankan Tamils must realize that they need to find a new, LEGITIMATE representative, because India should never ever bed with terrorists who have attacked her.

A solution has to be found in SL
by plsraju on Aug 01, 2006 04:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think, while we are reading this article, SL has already slipped into War. It is indeed painful for a tamilian like me to see brothers and sisters getting killed by the Sinhala Chauvenists. Please, read the election manifesto of the current President. A war was always on the cards as soon as the new President got elected.

Also, there is no LTTE is equally a brutal organisation employing children, killed Sinhalese, Muslims, fellow tamilians and our Rajiv Gandhi. We have also to note that there is no other organisation bigger enough to fight for the Tamil's cause.Actually, the LTTE have carefully eliminated all other groups and established themselves as the sole saviour of Tamils in SL.

I would advocate India should step in and bring out a peace in our neighbourhood. After establishing peace, LTTE chief has to be extradicated to India and legal proceedings have to be initiated against him. If LTTE wants India to participate, it has to accept this condition.

Do you know how many women the IPKF raped when they were on their peace mission? Just because the IPKF has been critised doesnt mean that you wont offer any help or see the other persons point of view. Learn to accept that our army has made mistakes too.

IPKF was at fault
by John Britto on Aug 02, 2006 12:30 AM  Permalink
If you are not convinced of what attrocities the IPKF committed please take time off and visit some Tamil refugees and know it firsthand. Otherwise do not simply sit in your study and type out some imaginary things.

I appreciate the article. It is unbiased and agree to all that is said. IPKF did not have a clear goal when it went to keep peace. Srilankan government is a rogue government. And IPKF went to help that. And why do you think they assasinated Mr. Rajiv. His death resulted in the exit of IPKF and brought insurmountable relief to the Tamils.
