With regard to all the discussions about the Indo-US Nuclear Deal, I would like to state that the deal is not absolutely essential to the Indian People! It is just a diplomatic measure of the US stance on its statement about India being its natural ally... Yes, all the symptoms of an alliance are there. Everything points to the possibility that India and the US could work together to make a stand against terrorism and fundamentalism spreading across the globe. But, how committed is the US towards making a major change in the world? Any step that the US takes towards an alliance with the Indian people is a direct violation of the established world order in terms of issues like the NPT and the CTBT. It would mean giving leeway to India, and recognizing that her protests towards the NPT were legitimate. And it IS legitimate! However, it would definitely annoy present and long-term allies. Is the US willing to pacify those allies? Is the US ready to accept that India is a responsible nuclear power and just as ethically irreproachable as any present nuclear power? These questions are tricky and guarantee an insatiable debate in the US Senate! The world's eyes shall be set on it...
