Rahul and his capabilities
by V.K.Tyagi on Apr 26, 2006 02:40 PM  Permalink

It is a non issue of being capable or not being that way for Rahul. Congress is destined to be headed by a member of the family he belongs to. It is quite clear to Sonia Gandhi that her nationality would always remain an issue therefore she has no option but to groom Rahul for a future PM

by sisir kumar swain on Apr 26, 2006 02:39 PM  Permalink

Rahul Gandhi, as a charismatic leader and a young leader can revive the congress party well in UP. The thing which is not possible on the part of aged shall be given to the youth as they can do that.

He needs to be wary
by Punnoose Tharyan on Apr 26, 2006 02:38 PM  Permalink

Rahul needs to be wary of getting into the thick of UP politics. Though he seems confident of taking on the opposition in UP, he should be wary of people around him. Especially sycophants in his own party. Rahul not only has the charm but also strong persuasive skills that can change the political climate in India's most populous state. He can bring about prosperity and development in this state,if he is able to enforce his style of politics--neat and clean. He has the acumen of a great leader. He is young and bright, so there's plenty that UP politics can stand to gain in his coming!

Party's People should not put pressure on him & lets hope for the best.
by Rajasekhar on Apr 26, 2006 02:30 PM  Permalink

When his father Late Mr.Rajiv Gandhi became PM, the party as well as people came up with lot of expectations from him that he is young & energitic & he can revive the party from the threshold of troubles but what happened at last, we all know that his party lost the majority as well as the popularty in the public. Can any body tell the reason WHY ? Even evrybody knows & that he is very good PM of India of that time but he is very weak in politics & he was made scape goat in politics at that time by boomranging the Bafors case - and the person who brought it was non other than the then Defence Minister Mr.V.P.Singh. I want to ask the public that he doesn't know what happened in his ministery & whatever happened is without his knowledge. This is all a game of politics to bring down the then PM of India from power & he (Mr.V.P.Singh) want to became PM of India.

So I think that till now what is happening is good for Mr.Rahul & we should not put pressure on him to revieve it all of a sudden b'coz according to me he has to learn a lot in politics like his grandmother & great grandfather. Then only he can survive in this crooked politics otherwise not & he will became anotherScapegoat

Rahul Gandhi
by Saroj on Apr 26, 2006 02:27 PM  Permalink

Right now he is politically unfit to play any positive role in UP politics. He needs a few more years to come into terms of Indian politics.

Can Rahul revive Congress in UP ?
by Rajarshi Dasgupta on Apr 26, 2006 02:26 PM  Permalink

Rahul Gandhi just doesn't have what it takes to be a politician ready to revive fortunes of the Congress Party in UP, or for that matter in any state. While I acknowledge his sincerity and 'clean' image, I have strong reservations about his leadership abilities atleast from his body language and oratory skills. It appears, he is yet to come out of the "mother's good boy" mould and he is as sensitive and 'soft' as he was in October 1984. The images of 14 year-old Rahul sobbing on his father's chest during Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's cremation is still fresh in people's mind. In stark contrast, younger sister Priyanka displayed appreciable composure on the same day. No wonder, Indians still favour Priyanka as the future Congress leader.
