I think he can revive the party if past history is any indicator towards that!!In the last Lok sabha elections, congress touched double digit mark of sending ten MP's to loksabha after a huge gap of 15 years since 1989.And this was to an extent attributed to Rahuls' campaign in UP.Eventhough the party is a deadwood in UP,it will certainly be a tall order of magnitude effort required to reverse the trend and if someone can do this,I think it is him since there is no other mass leader worth the name in UP congress
Let's wait and watch if Rahul's effort can bear fruit or it will further sink the party into a sea of red.

Hi Mr. Vijay Rawal, It was Rajive Gandhi who started go hand in hand with technology starting with computers then brought Sam Pitroda to change the telecom. And I am sure if he was not backed stabbed by the former finance minister Mr. V. P. Singh India would flying like China. Mr. Vijay Rawal before making some comments like this you should check the facts. It was the communist party against Rajive Gandhi introducing computer and likes in the country. Mathias. F. Cochin

Dear Mathias I agree with you that only Rajiv Gandhi started talking about computers and 21st century, but even congress do not recognize this fact. What is the credentials of Rahul Gandhi except the word Gandhi in his name. For last 5-6 years all congressman are talking about Rahul & Priyanka and for last 2 years from UP Rahul is a member of our renowned parliament and her mother for last 7 years. But what contribution Rahul Gandhi or her mother has made to the nation instead they always try to avoid any responsibility in the Government. There may be two reason either they feel ashamed to work under leadership of others like Manmohan Singh (it shows thier respect to Indian constitution and PM of India) or they dont have any theme to work upon and just want to enjoy the Royal status without taking any responsibility. I am resident of UP and can assure you that only the name of Rahul Gandhi will not work in UP (except for the crowd hired by local goons of congress) and to get the results he has to come with idea of growth of all section of society in UP. UPians are waiting for a good leader who can bring prosperity to the community but they will not just jump over Gandhi name.
Its true that for congressman Gandhi family is like GOD. But this is not true for general public at large. Those days are now history when Nehru-Gandhi family name were everything for public. Now new generation is questioning so called achievements of nehru-gandhi. Everyone can feel the difference in country economic growth since 1991, the year when the rule of this family finally ended in India and in congress. PV Narsimharao & Manmohan Singh are congressman too but not from this family. These two person were enough to change the direction of country growth. And then come BJP and again Manmohan Singh. Country's growth is going well, so who need Gandhis any more. But the family member of this family are still has not learnt any lesson. When Sonia Gandhi sacrificed (so called) PM chair, did it make any difference in electrol results for congress in election in last two years. Because now the people of India has understood that Gandhis are not going to help them, only they have to work hard to attain the highest growth rate in the world. If Rahul is going to take over the UP for congress, be sure there will be no improvement for congress. No one vote for "Gandhi" now.
I am sure Rahul Gandhi can do a turn around for the Congress in UP. The Gandhi's still have the backing and good will of the masses across the country transceeding cast, creed and religion. People in all age brackets love and respect them. UP's society fragmented by Mandalism and Ayodhya can only be united by only one force i.e. no doubt "Rahul Gandhi"
It is difficult to say a 'Yes' or a 'No' looking at Rahul's performance as a first time MP in and out of Parliament.
Rahul was a crowd puller, no doubt, thanks to his resembling his deceased father Rajiv Gandhi. But it ends there. Complaints that he is not as spontaneous as his sister are genuine. A carefully worded speech and a similar statement, almost read out of a note there does not make a person. As far as the machinations of realpolitik of UP is concerned, he would probably find it difficult not to get carried away by the power brokers in the UP congress.
If he really wants to do some thing to revive the Congress in UP, he should for some time work at the grass roots level in UP. The best thing he could do is to build a team of youngsters about his age, utilize the opportunity of the Rai Bareili Byelection as the start up and tour the state's length and breadth, reach out to the Univeristies, colleges and institutions where youth are craving for something fresh, and villages. People of UP would then prefer Rahul for their Chief Minister, and bring the Congress back. His return to the national politics would only be a logical conclusion.
Yes, People are sick of Mulayam & Mayawati. BJP too is not a reckoning force in the Hindi Belt. His honesty will help congress revive it forms.THey also require few more young good politicians and also implement some development schemes in UP. It is vital.
