his pronouncement is a cleverly devised strategy, though simple in its approach. even a lamp pole can ensure sonia gandhi's success in the run up to her election. riding on this euphoria, the congress think tank probably thought, suitable campaign could be launched to ensare ledership of the caste riddled state polity. with mayawati displying mature political acumen this is last ditch stand for congress in a bid to broad base its support amongst the politically influential caste vote banks. congress is simply making preparations for a broad based alliance with likes of mayawati, emulating her strategy, and hopes for a charismatic dent in the fractured state vote bank. after all congress cannot stay in the political wilderness of a state that can determine the political future of bharat mata/hindustan.
To an extent, yes Rahul can revive the congress in U.P. Atleast some newly generated enthusiasm can be brought into the party workers. It is hard to say now in the begining stages how much the Rahul factor will work out in the minds of the people! Whether the Nehru - Indira - Rajiv magic still do wonders in the electoral politics in North India. To my belief if the Congress minus other parties are still a formidable force. This arithmetic is not a new phenomenon. And moreover the caste based politics another major factor can stop Rahul's way to success. But the time has come in Congress, someone like Rahul and the young genration take the control from the ugly and blood sucking gold guards to revive the party from another debacle. This move should not make the eligible oldies to be handled as buffoons by the so called high command (THIS IS ALWAYS A HISTORY!)
Rahul Gandhi has the ability, passion and energy to revive congress in India and especially UP. He has charisma and capability. The most important thing is he can provide leadership to the lost youth of UP. Youths will further influence their families in decision making. Though casteism and religious bias has become even more stronger in last one decade, still Rahul will be able to overcome the challege.
I am confident that under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and immense support from Sonia, his mother, Congress can make a boom in UP. This will be the turning point for Congress and lots of small small parties in the state will join back to congress and in next election congress will win majority of seats too.
