Rahul GAndhi can save Congress in UP!!
by Thobey Srinivasan on May 17, 2006 01:50 PM  Permalink

It is much ado about nothing.
First of all, UP has been kept backward by subsequent Governments.
The voter's turnout was very poor unlike TN or Kerala.
The masses steeped in ignorance worship the Gandhis and Sonia's victory was a foregone conclusion.

BJP and SP also contributed to her victory by fielding a light-weitghts against her.
The contest has already been made easy for her by various factors.
Then where is Rahul's organisation skill in this??
The trouble is we take delight in perceiving virtues in leading personalities when they have none!
Being servile after all, comes to us very naturally.
Rahul is ideally cut out for the Congress that has always thrived on personality cult.

so what is there to rave about Rahul??

congress in UP
by krish on May 15, 2006 12:29 PM  Permalink

Why not talk about the commies taking over UP or the BJP coming back? Why are we obsessed with the congress? I would be impressed if he goes to West Bengal and makes a difference to the politics of the state. What is he proving by campaigning in Rei Barreili, where Mrs Indira Gandhi has cultivated an image over so many decades?

Can Rahul revive congress in UP?
by Majid on May 08, 2006 07:25 PM  Permalink

I dont think Rahul can do this alone. Though he has capabilities n ofcourse 'GANDHI' with his name but these factors r jst not enough to uplift Congress to a place where it can confront other stronghold parties. Rahul has no Harry Potter with which his magic wand n broom can fly in the sky.

Can Rahul Revive Congress in UP
by Ravindra Dixit on May 02, 2006 03:44 PM  Permalink

It is indeed tragic that a party over a hundred years old has no one to lead it. This story has been repeated time and again we are seeing a replay of the same rotten old script. I am not questioning the capability of Rahul Gandhi or his mother, for that is out of the context. Capability was never in consideration. I do not know whether Rahul can revive the Congress in Delhi, for I don't care. But I definitely do pray that he fails, for that is in the interest of the country's political structure. I sincerely pray that someone from the grassroots rises, someone like Manmohan Singh, who can give a fresh turn to our thought process and offer new openings to the people. Whatever Rahul has to offer will be stale, from where can he generate fresh ideas, he has no source, he has imbibed what his family has been practicing for decades, the country requires a break, not the same old wine in new bottles.

Yeah Rahul can help
by Sabarish Sasidharan on May 02, 2006 06:43 AM  Permalink

Rahul can help because every political party needs a new face every now and then. That way people are beguiled to give a new person a chance to see if he turns out good. Of course nobody turns out to be good. But us poor folks think we should give them a chance. And then we elect for 5 yrs. Not much gets done, but still then, we will try to give another chance. 10 yrs gone by then. And he gets called a stalwart by then... And they will need another new face after that. Funny isn't it?
