He who digs a trap for his neighbour , falls into it one day
by Ramprasad on Apr 19, 2006 11:57 AM  Permalink

Thats a popular south indian saying
"He who digs a trap for his neighbour , falls into it one day"

Pak tried to destroy the afgans in the west and the kashmiris in the east by instigating fundamental islam as a cheap war against her neighbours. That has backfired. While the pak-trained kashmiri militants are now bombing shia sites , the afgani ones are trying to wrench away waziristan

Pak dilemma
by anil on Apr 19, 2006 11:51 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is a real threat to future of Pak and since jihadis will eventually have access to Pak nukes India cannot but help USA and Pak to actively target these jihadis. Musharraf is vulnerable and nothing will go right for him now.

In fact the jihadi moves are comparable with the 11 th century battles of Turks and Moghuls (Genghis khans and Mohd. Gaznavi)against locals to establish cruel Islamic empires than with any human rights based struggles.

This can work both ways
by Sridhar Chari on Apr 19, 2006 11:14 AM  Permalink

While the analysis seems compelling, it is important to understand that Pakistans Afghanistan and Kashmir policy will continue to fuelled by these jehadis. And as much as Pakistan cries itself hoarse about the issue, it will continue to leverage them. This is akin to having a blood hound at your service, while they seem fierce to the outside world the owner is actually quite secure and he can actually blame it on the blood hound whenever things go wrong for him. Lets face it Pakistan is already an islamised society and Islamic radicalism is inbuilt in the society, so what if some poster boys can actually execute Pakistans designs in Afghanistan and Kashmir, which it cannot in the post 9/11 scenario. As the author himself says these forces do not represent any threat to Pakistans integrity, the real danger, as in the case of Baluchistan will come when the Pak Pashtuns join forces with their Afghan counterparts to stake their claim for a Pashtunistan.
One thing is certain that Pakistan will only suffer when there is a stable India and Afghanistan encircling it. So long as Afghanistan continues to simmer through these jihadis, Pakistan will continue to be geopolitically important

sir,
the artical was very good. I wish many people read that. i request you to allow me to transalate in my mother tounge Kannada, and publish in the kannada langauge daily/weekly. There is a dearth of such articles in kannada language and such articles, if published in local languages, it gives much more information to the people.
