Dance Bars are ok esp. cause dancing in front of an audience has been in our culture. Even the Bharat Natyam was earlier performed in the nude. We are indeed hypocritical, I've had friends who frequent dance bars in the US and say it's ok but when they come here, their views change. Everyone seems to be saying people blow money there. Who is forcing them to? Who is forcing them to even go there? It's by choice. Agreed that there are many anti-social elements who work in these areas. But shouldn't that's where our focus should be? Why can't the government clean out such areas rather than go the easy way. Some argue the youth gets spoiled: Isn't the youth getting spoiled watching porn movies which are available at every street corner? or by having pre-marital sex? or by going to a prostitute? The shocking thing which everyone seems to be missing here is that, the bar girls have turned to prostitution. How can that be good for our society? Some argue that it's titilating: So what if it is? Who doesn't like to get titilated? We've to stop acting like prudes.
Looking at todays senario these kind of bar adding FUEL TO FIRE specailly for G- X force.By limiting this profession people can leave relaxed life and enjoy with their respective parents and family. We should never call these evil work as a profession. Ghani

Its a place which wud create so-called-employment to thousands of women...though harsh to hear. Again hasnt the count of rape and eve tteasing increased since the ban? These places are meant for a cerrtain strata of OUR SOCIETY....and lets not deny them wat they covete.
Comin to question of social quibbles...sensible people are gonna keep away from such places. The major concern is minors entering the bars.
One solution could be LINCENSING as the govt has done in case of liquor...y not introduce licence to visitors of DB? cud deter peple to some extent.
Seeing the Condition it is Pathetic there are both type of girls one are forced to take dance bar as job as their family no one is bread Earner due to their Monetary condition arising of for father/husband drunker/addicted.Other side of coin some do due to luxury easily available.
But, first type will/are getting affected due to closure and are being forced to take Prosititution thus it should be allowed.
Its amazing to see how hypocritical we are as a nation. An amazing number of people have responded saying that its okay for our bombay to have dance bars. What they are really saying is, its okay for married men to leave their wives at home for liqour and girls who will titillate their senses.
Its vulgar and shameful, sending young girls with no alternative in life, to arouse these depraved men and this be a legal practice in our country. Isn't this clearly against our culture, that we hold so dear!?!
What is blasphemous though, according to a message board on this website, is two people kissing on the streets. Two people, that may have commited themselves to each other for a lifetime, should be ashamed of how they feel, should bea made to feel that its against our culture for them to honestly love one another. They should be fined and it should be made sure they get that this is an affront to our society, our culture and our values. I say, lets whip them! Because clearly, our culture does not allow for two people in love to express it, it only allows us to send young impressionable girls to men that will drool as they destroy their youth and innocence...
after more than 50 years of our independance ,are we able to provide employment to each and every citizen of india.first the government should arrange for better alternate for the workers of bar dance and than shut it down.
Dancing as a professional pursuit is unexceptional, it is like any other profession. The problem is with the manner in which bar dancing is conducted.In Mumbai while there are redlight areas, no such areas are provided for opening dance bars. Any place is good enough to open and run a dance bar. The bars themselves project young girls as objects of exploitation much of it similar to prostitution. This encourages trafficking in women and creating an environment for its sustenance. The more attractive women seek entry into films and modelling, less attractive women to these dance bars and older and unemployable women to the redlight areas each sustaining the other and making trafficking an attractive avenue for employment. This is the sleazier side to it and the Govt should have tackled the problem by firstly marking out areas for operating dance bars, and enforcing curbs on disorderly behaviour while clamping down on trafficking in women, children, and helpless people.
As I read these replies I feel that more and more of you should not be having computers.....nay even having the previlige of being called civilized people. Dance bars are immoral??? Holy cow...which century are we living in. You guys pay 300 Rs to go watch Aamir Khan kiss his heroines on screen and Bobby Deol sleep with his girlfriend but you think some poor girl who is just dancing for you to earn a meagre living is immoral? People have lost more jobs and the nation has lost more money due to procrastination whenever India is Playing pakistan in the cricket series.....so should we ban cricket? Hindi movies have fallen to such low levels that even Yash Chopra has resorted to making movies like Neal and Nikki yet no one banned him? Come on grow up Indians....look at the real problems. Morality is not killing Indian poor.....hunger is. Farmers are not commiting suicide because Tarranum Khan is dancing in a ghahgra choli but because the same "morality" politicians have done a deaf ear to these people who die everyday to feed us. Let these girls earn their bit in a city that is so immoral that it stinks now....
