This is realy heartbreaking to hear that things like this happen in INDIA. The author himself made a rule not to live in a Hindu locality, so what he saw in mumbai was just his reflection. He has nowhere said that he didn't tried to go for a Muslim loacality, his finances drew him to a Hindu locality. Actually you should not prioritize like this. People prefer to live in localities of their religion may be coz they find them familiar. But making such rules, on both parts, author, and kandivili public, is not fair. I belong to a Hindu family and we rented our house in Rajasthan to a muslim family. We have very good relations. Our relations maintained even after they left. Even after all this I am hopefull that things are changing and will continue to do so, for the better. Sorry for addressing people by religions(I hate this). But this article needed this. Live and Let Live. ENJOY and LET ENJOY
A family of four childrens, all with different nature and temprament, but still they are from one family and will hopefully stay one. It is only after they grow up to dreem of more needs that they fight with each other, seperate, and become self centered, but still are form the same family and carry their family name and are there to be with their family in crises.
Anything said by a Hindu would make them appear to be bigoted or biased. Let me say I am not surprised at Mr Ashraf's plight. Personally, I would not like to give my house on rent to a person who cooks and eats non-vegetarian food, regardless of religion, caste and so on. It is a matter of preference rather than bias.
I can well understand your shock after you heard that builder but then have ever bothered to check out what Hindus face in Muslim locality?can we pray freely or live freely in muslim locality?I can well guess your response but unfortunately you forgot one fact that number of Hindus who died in riots is near about same as muslims,so should we call it Hindu riot or Muslim riot? After murder of Mahatma gandhi,Bramhins were targeted systematically but look at situation today bramhins have not taken it to heart but assimilated in the same society so that nobody talks abt Mahatma gandhi murder and Brahmins in the same breath.so stop wearing your religion on your face and forget like hindus have through time and again.Hindu pandits in Kashmir can not even live in the enire state forget about locality, think about that. They are refugees in their own country, please write about that ,rather than writing about one small locality and defaming entire Hindu society.Your artical smells of Religious hatred, get rid of that otherwise we as a nation will never prosper.
it is true that some of the societies are like what the columnist has faced, i also faced it while hunting for a rented flat in mumbai, but i got it in different society(hindu) without any fuss.there is no uniformity in this type of mindset the complex mix exists.the tilt goes to far side during some untoward events like riots , political reasons, rumours also play enough role(people do not confirm).
