The problem lies that anti- muslim wave has now become global phenomenon. Even in Muslim country a Non- Muslim company owner/Employer will not give jobs to muslims. It can been seen in Middle East. A non-muslim will not let his/her house to Muslims.
This escalation in hate-rate is becoz of post 9/11.
To be frank it has become tendency to see a terrorist in the eyes of a Muslim person. It seems by-default they are anti-social persons. This is not healthy for a growing /developing nation like india.
This perception has to be changed immediately unless it becomes too late. This is in our hands and not in the hand of Govt & Politicians. The Educated Muslims has to educate their community people to educate themselves. The problem is all educated Muslims of India are settled in Middle East/Gulf- though they are considered second class citizens . Who will take the intiative?????.
How Mohd Kaif. Irfan Pathan, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khursid , APJ Abul Kalam Ajad came up. Its because of sheer education. No body pin points them. Everybody wants them to be part of their society.
In our Building muslims are the caretaker of our buildings. Though hindus are majority. Its thinking..
That is Mumbai. Try ur luck in south India, atleast never heard these kind of things in Tamil Nadu expect for brahmins wont rent house to non-vegetarians you might be hindu/muslim or christians.
I dont know if I agree with you that this is specifically a Hindu trait. I think the discriminating element is very essentially an Indian trait. If you look harder you will notice similar discriminating information about Muslims and pretty much any other community.
Even in the indian IT corporate world such discrimination is prevalent based on castes, religion, region, language etc. Dont lose hope and worse dont spread the negativity. It is upto us to shape our future and someday the world we live will not discriminate us ont he basis on religion, region, caste, language, sex etc.
I feel very disturbed by the facts you have presented in your article. This is the first time I've heard of something like this. I stay in Hyderabad and I have not seen anything like this here.
But do your think publishing your article here in rediff can help you in any way ? Though your tome was mopre than decent, don't you think it will add fuel to the already dented image of Hindus among muslims ?
I tried thinking of a suggestion to give you on how to handle the situation, but I could not come out with a solution. But I'm sure that you will agree with me on the fact that there will be atleast one area in Mumbai which would meet all your priorities and also will not stop you from joining that locality. The cases of discrimination you have mentioned are genuine but not true in majority of localities. Do you accept ?
