muslim mainstream
by lalesh on Apr 11, 2006 12:36 PM  Permalink

Dear sir,
your column has really made me feel why this is happening. but can you answer a simple question: why all the terrorist activity going on in india is by muslims? why the kashmiris feel more inclined towards pakistan? why the muslims want to make india another israel-palistine?

you should try to find the anwer within yourself. Hindus are very tolerable, they do not hurt any other unless and until they are strongly harmed, our religion is open for all but in islam the defination rests with the maulanas who mend the religious teaching in their own vision.

why was not a fatwa given against MF Hussain when he made those paintings? it was a fun for muslims and strongly appreciated by the fundamentalists.

why the muslims are adamant on babri masjid? why cant they donate it to hindus and show their tolerance? the peice of land has become the prestige issue or the point of existence for muslims.

be a part of mainstream, we are not there to harm you. show the inclination towards india, we are there to accept you.stop celebrating Pakistan's winning on Indian soil, we are there to celebrate with you.

stand against fundamentalist, we are there to stand by you.

This article evokes an acute sense of pain, and one can understand the writer's point of view but if we turn it he other way round ... Were the muslim mobs not hunting for hindus during the riots?

With no offence - I have noticed that its neither a hindu or muslim who does a heinous act, its few individuals, ho are fanatics and have motives definitely other than religion.

Of course as far the housing norms go...even Parsi Colony has the same rule hence its not exclusive to Hindus only.

''Why I won't live among Hindus''

Ha,Ha,Mr.Ashraf, you have tried very hard to attract sympathy by showing how demonic the Hindus are.But

tell me are you sure you are an Indian first and a Muslim second?Or is it the other way round? All Muslims in this country believe India is the land of "Kafirs" and they(Kafirs)should be drven out to create the Holy Islamic Nation.Talking about discrimination,go to your brethren's holy state of Bangladesh and see the plight of Hindus even to exist, let alone finding a house in a decent area.Hindus are continuously hounded by Islamists to be "halaled"

Pathetic
by Rajendra on Apr 11, 2006 12:35 PM  Permalink

Hi Ashraf,

This could be true in the place like Mumbai. But relatively I do not see such things in Hyderabad and Bangalore.Mumbai could be different because of the politicised motivated background prevails there. Hyderabad had seen much of communal riots but never faced such discrimination. I feel that the discrimination occurs primarily from the kitchen (Food habits). As long as we do not bother our fellow neighbours it is okay. Hence I request the readers to look and keep your neighbours informed about your habits.

Regards,

Rajendra Y.

Mr. Ashraf,

i understand ur concerns.Bur believe me Hindus are peace loving, quite and calm people. You are among some of the well educated, progressed, open mined, going forward muslims.

But still the mindset of most of muslims are narrow.

They somewhere take pride in terrorist activities spread by our neighbour pakistan/elsewhere.They don\'t go a step forward to condemn all these activities.

Maybe thats the reason for some socities having reservations abt muslims.

We as indian should shun apart these caste systems and help building a progressing India.

Sandeep

RE:Why I won't live among Hindus

The article is not objective in its approach. It suffers from onesided view of the situation.Ask a Hindu or anyone from any community and he/she would provide a similar account of experience with another community.Probably Mr.Syed Firdaus Ashraf might not have any objections to a hindu coming into his locality but there would be many others who would not think so.Such preferences exist in every community.
And to talk of mainstream and participation of communities, I would like to ask every one concerned why is it that there is no strong voice of opposition from muslim community to fundamental militancy the way 'prominent' leaders criticise supposed acts of hindu militancy.
Of late 'secular' has come to mean only Hindu bashing. Isn't MIM a communal party with its unequivocal Islamic ideology?Where are the people who criticise RSS when the time to criticise SIMI and other organizations comes?
Though my view might rake up another round of arguments,I would like every one concerned to take a holistic view of the situation and also of the origins of such unhealthy scenarios.
And finally I would like to apologise,as a Hindu and as an Indian, for all the Babri masjids and Godhras.
