Same as everywhere
by md on Apr 11, 2006 01:19 PM  Permalink

yes. its same in most of the places. when for renting a home in chennai, we face the same problem even though we didn;t have any communal roits like bombay or meerut or gujarath.. Its the mindset that has to change in all the communities and the leading dailys or websites can play a good role...

Dear Coloumanist,

Its very sad that people like you using the podium to build wall between two religions with the unacceptable words used in the coloumn. I feel that your unwanted coloumn will only add fuel and give more reasons to justify themselves to those few people who are looking to divide nationin as per religion. I am looking forward for your explanation on this unpatriotic act.

Hello Friend,

As you can see, I am a GUJJU.

Well, i totally agree with you that problem like this exists in MUMBAI, which is indeed ironical!

Anyways, let me tel you, that its not the MUSLIM factor that comes in.. Its the SMELL factor of the NON-VEG food...

I can eat ANY moving things, BUT, there are the vast mejority who neither eat nor can stand the smell of such foods...

As you said yourself, that Maharastrains also find it difficult, well, let me add, ANY person who cooks NON-VEG will face the same problem.. This problem is NOT based on cast system, its more VEG- Non Veg based.

So, just to add, even I wont be allowed to stay in a society like this(peacefully) for such a petty reason.

Any ways, I hope that you get my point.

-Sonu

I agree with my muslim friend about what he must have faced. But then it is not only in India or Mumbai. This is more a factual truth in other countries as well, be it Pakistan or Bangladesh. Rather this is true in European countries too. I have traveled around the world and have experienced more than what my muslim friend expressed in his article.
So my friend it has nothing to do with you being a muslim in India, this is something common in this world all over the place with different faces.
One of my friend who migrated from India to Pakistan has worse experiece to share.
All said, I still feel that this typical mindset of society which you faced is very sorry.

It really pained me to read the bitter experience you had.Let's hope that everything will result in

good humanity in the long run Because we all live in hope. We as a nation show lot of destructive elements. our men are more engaged in now to demolish mosques, temples, churches, gurudwaras etc than in bringing communal harmony.

People are more interested in spreading hatred, division ,ill feeling etc;and many personalities of social importance give the leadership in this for their vested interests

not for promoting religious values such as love,respect,compassion,spirituality etc;

There is nothing wrong to be religious but we should me more spiritual. If my religion advocates violence, murder and hatred

i do not require that religion. And no religions advocate all these but the socalled selfish and wicked men at top use religion to achieve their devilish motives.

One thing i can assure you that Majority of people in Hinduism,Islam,Christianity, sikhism etc live in peace showing high grade of spirituality.Only a limited number people in all these religions function as antisocial e3lements. These limited number of antisocials have to be stongly dealt with .
