Even Hindus face hatered from Muslims Think about Kashmiri Pandits please.
by shree on Apr 11, 2006 08:29 PM  Permalink

Even Hindus face similar and even scarier hatered from muslims. I was a resident of Srinagar Kashmir as a child and we were constantly under fear for our lives. Till we finally gave in and left without a single penny and with whatever we were wearing. No one could forget that plight me and my young hindu friends faced at time since we did not even understand exactly why this was happening. We were constantly under critisism at school from the muslim friends. Hatered for us was just everywhere. We were strangers in our own country. Till now so many Kashmiri hindus live like refugees in their own country and no one bats an eyelid. No one cares, no one bothers. So much concern is over the minorities, our houses were snatched our lands taken away ..we cant enter a place where our forefathers lived even though it is a part of our country .. Movies are made about our plight but still the Kashmiri pandits have been facing hatered from muslims. Why were the pandits shoved out of our houses and killed ? WHY ?
I want to ask rediff can it print our plight ? Can it bring justice to us ? Its all about the minorities .. they can kill and get away .. no one cares for a hindu in this country

what goes around comes around
by Naveen on Apr 11, 2006 08:21 PM  Permalink

Felt sorry about you after reading your column, but u didnot realise that there are many people like you.I mean that even you are skeptical about hindus, so are they about muslims. Everyone wants to safeguard their culture and religion, nothing wrong in it. What goes around comes around, u still have a wrong idea about hindus even the hindus who dont want muslims in their community must have experienced the same thing as you.So I say that its no big deal regarding these issues. These issues are very small now and noone thinks about these in this fast growing economic nation. Everyone wants to live in peace wheather hindu or a muslim. If I come tomorrow to your place you would do the same because you experienced a bad thing, then it will make me think that muslims are not good. So all I can say is these things are very trivial and not to be taken seriously.

Muslim in a hindu society
by nitin budhiraja on Apr 11, 2006 08:21 PM  Permalink

I think that althugh personal experiences vary, I will bet you that it is
a matter of personal upbringing how a person reacts to another. A
good society starts at its roots...in the family. If we all make sure that
in the first place, the atmosphere and ethic in our family is healthy it
will spread out to be one healthy society. I feel bad for our writer
here, but I want to ask him, even though the problem prevails, do you
have a solution to it. Before you bring it to the table and create that
feeling of our society being sick, do you have a solution, or you just
wanted to complain. Can you be somone who can help? Because we
have a lot of people who can complain. We actually need some doers.
Be a role model, show them what Islam and all other religions are all
about...respect, love and brotherhood, and after all arent these the
things India was inherited with since always?

Irresponsible Media
by Manish on Apr 11, 2006 08:19 PM  Permalink

There must be somebody in Rediff who checks for what is posted on their site. I am surprised to see article of this kind published.

These kind of articles may further deepen the wounds of already tense relationships of communities.

Irresponsible media at it's best.

Why point fingers ?
by J on Apr 11, 2006 08:18 PM  Permalink

Author wants to state that others dont let muslims come to mainstream. If average muslim wants to be in mainstream he or she can be. But like author decided to move into a muslim neighbourhood, why are others to blame for.
India has give Muslim presidents, Muslims role models muslim cricketers, muslim ministers etc etc ... are they not "mainstream"
Even hindus are discriminated and sidelined in name of religion, reservation etc ...
my point is you are as much in mainstream as u want...

major attitude problem
by Anand Menon on Apr 11, 2006 07:51 PM  Permalink

We as a nation and as a region much long before we became a nation have had a history of absorbing, assimilating and accommodating various kinds of religious viewpoints...i agree with one of our bloggers who has requested that articles like this shouldn't be given the prominent space they are given...the views of the author are the classic result of the persecution complex wherein the perpetrator of the crime masquerades as the victim of it...

So what if You don't want to live among us???...your loss man...not ours

Reply to I will never stay in hindu locality
by H-man on Apr 11, 2006 07:49 PM  Permalink

I have never come across such issues. Although I am a Hindu by religion,
I have more muslim friends for one reason or another. I cannot
understand why there is any problem. We are people of different types
and we follow different customs. If people who follow similar customs
stay together, I do not see any such problems. Sometimes vegetarians
do not like to stay near non vegetarians. I can understand why, because
if there is a big shark in the water, u cannot expect the fish to leave the
sea. Also, I feel that if you are ok you can live in a hindu colony even
though u are not muslim. The most important thing in this world is
humanity.
