I would like to ask the guy who wrote this what else did the builder say whn he refused the flat. My reading would be tat the promoter would not want a family which ate non veg. This happens in my locality too which are maily from Rajasthan and Gujrat. Second he should ask himself the question why Hindus or others in general want to kep away from the muslims. Because they get aggrevied at a drop of a hat. 99% of the riots have started because some muslim went bezerk which turns against the hindus. His story of hindus looking for muslims during riots is not the whole truth. During all riots so far in India, the muslims were doing just that. And the bull shit about joining the main stream is non sence as they never want to join it. If the intentions are honest ask them to agree to uniform civil code. And believe me you wont see one muslim agreeing to it.
Sorry for the experience. But it needs more indepth analysis for Hindus' reactions. Some of the causes are: The cultural differences and rigidity, higher involvement with reported unsocial activities, desire for a peaceful residential environment & closer interactions make them sceptic and opt for a safer alternative. This is specially so for a stranger. To change the situation it requires efforts from both ends specialy by the people having influence by influncing there own people & giving right direction. It is a longterm task for al of us.
I feel sorry for the muslim gentleman. This is one piece of evidence that shocks us, and force us to think where we are heading in this age of globalisation and cross-culture upbringing. Its not just religion, "our" mindsets are not yet freed from regionalism and other crapiest factors.
But i am hopeful, education and opportunities to look beyond ones small world will change the outlook.
Politics who rule My home India and nexus of bueracrats with politicians are ruining India to the extend that people does not believe in co-existance. What terrorists could'nt achieve this nexus is going ahead to that.
It is quite normal, that there are some kinds of Profiling done everywhere. what is wrong in like minded people(with similar habits) living in a group? Otherwise there would be lot of compatability issues (like Veg-Nonveg, Nonveg-Fishsmell, nonveg-Pork??...)
just a simple question... Would you rent your house to a Chinese or somebody who would eat Pork?? (easy to preach,but when it comes to one's own property, it is natural for everybody to look for somebody who is the closest to him both habitual,behavioural)
I think ur article itself proves ur point..if u r thinking of that incident till now it will be the same with others and they also lost someone in that riots...and no one can surely says which fault it was...so dont write such artcles here again...and keep my country quite....plz
