Rediff should look into the books of Journalism. What is the need/use/meaning for this article? Freedom to express? Had it been written by any Hindu, then rediff might not have excepted it giving the reason as "communal" ...
Please try to avoid such articles and stop more hatred.
Ppl Ppl Ppl Hasnt 1000s of years of history taught you anything.I find it to hard to believe that modern educated broadminded individuals like us subscribe to sectarian values of a bunch of selfish politicians who pander to the zealots to gain political mileage out of it.We should focus our energy and efforts to get the economy kicking and screaming. We have done a pretty decent job so far so lets stay focussed at that.Lets leave the sectarian politics to these aging politicians. The only possible obstacle in the path of this jaggernaut of an economy is political instability. so Forget about Hindu/Muslim/Sikh/Christian Just Do your thing . There is hope only if like Mr Barksdale the CEO of the Great company Netscape said Lets Keep the Main Thing The Main Thing
It may be a true story. However i really don't agree with my friend that only muslims are alienated. One of my friend who is an hindu had a similar experience when he wants to live in an area dominated by Muslim. It's just one of the several ill practices of our society which we need 2 work on to make our country a better place to live
I think the author, Syed Firdaus Ashraf has raised a very important issue. Discrimination(in any form, religion, sex, economic status, home state, caste) is rampant in today's society and we as citizens should raise this issue and debate whether a person needs to be protected against it by laws. I was rather disappointed with some of the comments by the readers. One can give counter examples in any situation but pointing fingers is never going to solve the problem, rather it will make it worse. And I definitely don't think this is a third class article. It is a very very relevant article and if one thinks about it, most of us have been discriminated against at some point in our lives for different reasons. I empathize with the author totally.
