hi friend' what ever happen with you was the same with me and my muslim friends and that to it was so upsetting that we have been living there so long since my dads childhood and everyone in locality knew us very well and the mob who were there for disturbance were the friends of my family who had been to my for festivals n celebrations. since then we have stopped talking to this people and shifted to other place.And because of that i firmly beleive this situation you should not forget if u are muslim.

Majid, I read this verse from Quran... See for yourself what Quran preaches.... "Let not the believers take the disbelievers for intimate friends in preference to believers; whoever does that has no connection with Allah. Your only course is to keep away from them altogether. (Sura 3, Ayat 29)"... Is it religion of peace or piece?
You have asked a very good question, that why muslims are considered outsider in multi cultural society of ours. For you to understand this you need to look at the history and the present situation in the world. I will start with History. We have a neighour which was created on the bases of religion and the left muslims always had a soft corner for them, our enemies. We as society was suppose to understand that ? All the muslims who have succeeded in our country and one who does not want to have a special treatment in the country. They want to be Indians first than tagged as from minority community. Also please give a thought on what is the population limitation for the term minority. Today in world majorily where ever there is unrest one community is Muslim.Have you ever wondered why ? It is my personal view that this country has remained seculiar only because the dominant religion is Hindu otherwise look around in the world and kindly quote a country where other religion are given freedom in Muslim dominated country. You have quoted example of only one riot where we as Hindus have many to quote. The impressions are made on the bases of action.
You are not at all overreacting! I am glad that you are able to speak about it in such a passive way, I would have slapped that gentleman who was selling flats. I myself have experienced that wuality of life in Delhi is better and less prejudiced as compared to Mumbai. There we have seen so many maharastrian societies who don't want Gujjus, biharis, Upiites, muslims amidst them. The vegetarians would make a major fuss about even an egg being bought in the neighbourhood(all though they would kick and stone stray dogs and cats brutally). They even have prejudice on songs bieng played for community gatherings, and would only invite their own communities for most society functions!! I suggest you let them know of what you think of them everytime you face such situation.
