Saraswathy
by Nawal Shekhawat on Apr 06, 2006 08:46 AM  Permalink

These people never had enough for themselves or their families but what they gave to this nation was everything they had, including their families and their souls. I wish her message went to the masses in a bigger way. At 106, twice the age when many in India are contemplating their retirement a few years down the line, she with her frail hands still yearns to serve the nation. What a great article!! And what a lucky and great author as well, I envy him.

My Pranam to Amma
by Abhishek on Apr 06, 2006 08:34 AM  Permalink

Its great feeling to see that these kind of people still exist in otherwise selfish world.

I thank rediff from heart to bring these people to life again by covering their stories and prompting people to learn about how we got freedom.

At 106 -Still concerned
by Prakash sahay on Apr 06, 2006 06:24 AM  Permalink

It is high time her interview is published in leading dailies so that present younger generation could enlighten themselves and people doing all types of wrong things could start hating themselves.

A very good job done by the interviewer.

Great Patriot
by Pramodh on Apr 06, 2006 04:40 AM  Permalink

It was refreshing to hear about this great patriot in today's corrupt political system. Wish people including the politicians take a moment and read this article and learn about what 'patriotism' is and what 'serving people' is.

I appreciate rediff on publsihing such news articles.
