Lantos just putting pressure for future
by Arun Patel on Apr 03, 2006 11:43 PM  Permalink

Lantos was just trying to make sure that the Indian Administration understands how strongly the US feels about Iran. Saran was smart not to remind him that at least we are not supplying billions of dollars per year and F-16's to Iran, as well as giving preferntial treatment to India's other enemy - China - by making them a Weapons state signatory to the NPT.

Why Clarify? We are responsible country
by Imti on Apr 02, 2006 12:54 PM  Permalink

Why clarify Mr Saran. We are Democratic country responsible country (only country in world who has not invaded any country), we gave world mantra of non-violence. We shouldn't go week kneed before America on what we decide or what we do.

Lantos should not forget that the nuclear deal was initiated by US not by India.... so he should not blame India always.

Seems that we are going much below than our status
by baluindo on Apr 02, 2006 09:54 AM  Permalink

even it is surprised me when we supported west during objection over Iran's uranium enrichment in their own soil. Now , Mr.Saran , justified to a USA Senator that India not training Iranian troops. We always claim India has its own right to develop and test Nuclear Bombs. Even during Pokaran testing , we criticized west for their double standards in a very strong way. But , now we seems to be so selfish or in other words...(Forgive me for this strong word) we are begging from USA. They are not going to give u the technology at free. we are going to buy from them. So , any contract made should give a room to our self respect , which is the thing which we should never loose....!!!

If we exercised our power projection capacity in that kind of degree, we'd be a super power by now..

At one point Israel was training both the Sri Lankan army and LTTE in the same compound!
I wish India were more pragmatic in foreign relationships.

And what's up Tam Lantos's behind is puzzling, he's been going ballistic on India for quite some time.
Either he's angry with the over representation of Indian demography in the San Francisco Bay Area or he's not received enough campaign contribution from them.
