Nobel for Sri Sri Ravi Shankar?
by C on Sep 29, 2005 08:23 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Get your facts right dude....meditation and yoga are India's gift to the world not Hinduism's gift to the world.

Yoga was practised in ancient India by everyone, and is a part of amcient Indian culture.

BTW meditation was practised by almost all religions, including Buddhism, Jainsm, Sikh and christian and almost every religion.

RE:Nobel for Sri Sri Ravi Shankar?: Ref: Super Dude ''C''

Mr.Francois Gautier is not a dude after all. There was no India thousands of years ago. It was only Bharatham and the people who lived in Bharatham belonged to a civilisation called Hindu civilisation, and these people practiced a dharma known as Sanathana Dharma. This dharma was named and equated as Hindu religion. These facts might be too much for the super dude Mr. (or Ms.)"C".

Are you sure YOU have your facts right? All religions do practise meditation...But the oldest among these is afterall Hinduism...and regarding yoga... You say yoga is India's contribution to the world and not Hinduism's?!!!!? Yoga is the contribution of HINDU India...All the other religions came to India later on and why?..Because the Hindus welcomed them with open arms!!!

Dear C,
I realize that you want to 'C' (see) everything with your 'secular' goggles. India and Hinduism are body and soul to each other. You cannot have India without Hinduism. When you take great exception to the term Hinduism, it shows your lack of knowledge about India and its past. You confuse Hinduism with 'religion', while it is a way of life. (This has been CLEARLY explained by Supreme Court judgements, plz check out for yourself). So kindly get YOUR facts right 'dude'!
(Using such fashionable terms does not impress others if you are factually wrong!).
Hope you can C this out of your ego that has been hurt by this mail. Best Wishes in your self-discovery: Aasheesh Srivastava

hEy! Dude. what do you call ancient indian culture as? I appreciate your viewpoint that there is no name to it. And, hence it might have been called \\\"sanAtana dharma.\\\" Unfortunately, foriegners, since invasions in AD period, started calling us Hindus.
BTW, all the other religions like Buddhism, jainism, sikhs have meditation you said; and all of them are just different paths from the same Hindu culture/religion of India. They originated from India.
So, don\\\'t alienate Hinduism from India.
Thanks.

Nobel a tribute to Sri Sri
by Sanchit on Sep 28, 2005 06:26 PM  Permalink

Sir Sri Ravi Shankar, Guruji , a persona of unparralled contribution to our society, our planet and most importantly to every life on this universe. The happiness which he has brought in lives of millions or his marvellous gift of Sudarshyan Kriya ot the world or the unprecedented social work which the Art of Living foundation is doing all over the world are just byproducts of the new meaning of life he is giving to the tarnished minds of today, enriching our souls.

The nobel won't affect the good work he is doing in either way, but would surely test our sense of gratitude.
