Their acts may be commendable, but to compare them to Mother Teresa, and Desmond Tutu is deplorable. And pls note that these gurus, esp.Sri Sri Ravi Shankar are only using age old traditions and rituals,in a commercial manner. But yes, if the panels to shortlist are like the National Awards jury, or Oscar entry panel, then Sri Sri will not only get nominated, but will also win the Nobel Prize.
What do you have against these spiritual heads? What do you know about Baba, personally? Not some muck printed in the anti-Hindu media in India. Baba has built Super-speciality hospitals in Bangalore and Puttaparthi where thousands have had complex cardiac, neuro, urological surgeries totally free of cost. Most of the patients are so poor that they are also fed and clothed by these hospitals. Baba has provided clean drinking water to 100s of villages in Andhra and built a canal for supply to Chennai. Baba has built an university starting from KG to PG, totally free. His students do service free of cost all over India. Sai seva organization is one of the first in providing succour and support in major tragedies.. Sai organization is spead in more than 160 countries, with active volunteers doing service in their countries... Wake up Rohan. Stop being an armchair critic and do something before casting aspersions on great people you know zilch about. By the way, I don't think any of these great souls are doing what they do for any stupid, biased prize from the west. The wise men, the mystics & the awakened do not need a certification (nobel prize) from an institute at Oslo. Gods gifts to humanity like Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Sri Aurobindo, Ramana Maharishi to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar or Mata Amritanandamayi need not be vouched by nobel prize committee for simple reason awakened can only be recognized by an awakened. A committee where law of consensus work can never do justice is gauging the work of an enlightened.
I read your article. Great tribute to a great Soul. Where does Hindu or a Christian or a Muslim come into the fore of such a Nobel work? A Nobel Peace Prize is for a human being rather than it be given to any religon.
