Is the Nobel Peace Prize important?
by Madhav on Sep 30, 2005 07:56 PM  Permalink

Does an individual who has committed his life for the well-being of makind require the Nobel Peace Prize to acknowledge it?
The Nobel Prize is just a bunch of people who acknowledge some individuals effort. It is completely empty and meaningless. The authenticity of a persons effort is in the difference it makes in another human-beings life and not because some organization approves it. The difference, Art of living has made in people's lives are in itself a bigger acknowledgement of Ravishankar's peace efforts. He need not win the Nobel Peace Prize, because that does not determine his efforts.
Maybe the west has something against India/Hindu leaders and that shows how low the thinking of the west really is. So it is not important for Ravishankar to be acknowledged by these low-thinking beings. Thanks... but no thanks!!

were you lobbying for Sri Sri...
by umesh scaria on Sep 30, 2005 07:36 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,
Is lobbying allowed for Nobel Prize? I assume the Noble commitee is capable to recoganise the right person for Peace prize. According to you the Nobel commitee must be really prejudiced against the Hindus ! I wonder why they choose Tagore, CV raman etc ? Werent they Hindus..?
Cut the crap and let them decide. if shri shri deserves,he will get it. Else someone better will. Besides, like a true Hindu, we must accept and welocme any Nobel laureate. Because as Vivekanada said they are our "brothers and sisters"!
Regards
Umesh

Sri Sri for Nobel Prize --- clarification to C
by Venkat on Sep 30, 2005 07:04 PM  Permalink

C
This message is directed to C. First you get your facts right. In fact you have only shown your Total ignorance. You are saying that meditation and yoga are not Hinudism's gift and is a gift of ancient indian culture. Well that ancient indian culture is nothing but hinduism.. because no other religion existed at that time. Budhists and jains learned meditation only from hindus. The hinduism is a name given now to what is called as the Sanatana Dharma . It is in this Sanatana Dharma that yoga and meditation were an integral part.

Gautier and Hindutva
by Salih on Sep 30, 2005 06:50 PM  Permalink

Gautier's embrace of Sri Sri is telling. He (Gautier) had neven hidden his admiration of the Sangh Parivar and its politics. Through his articles, he had used every opportunity to bash muslims and condone Hindu extremism.

Sri Sri has over the years - through his pronouncements - has clearly shown where his sympathies lay.

Sri Sri for Nobel? Give me a break!

Why not Sri Sri Satya Sai Baba
by Wiseman on Sep 30, 2005 05:04 PM  Permalink

Hello, Although, I donot denounce Sri RaviShankar's Credentials, Why don't we think about Sri Sri Satya Sai Baba gaaru, who has spread his message of Peace and equality of religions and selflessness can also be a great and undoubted bet incase anybody looks an Indian for Nobel Peace prize.

If one should understand his focus on mankind , everybody accepts whatever I said.

by jaya agarwal on Sep 30, 2005 04:05 PM  Permalink

In my opinion if any one in this world deserves peace prize is His holiness Shri Shri Ravishanker.
It is not important for Him but for all of us to recognize that how much peace and happiness he has brought in every one of us life.

Love

the best man wins
by samantha on Sep 30, 2005 03:39 PM  Permalink

each of the peace prize contenders have contributed much so society and to judge them is indeed a tough task. what makes it even more difficult is the scale of their efforts and the the different levels at which their work has made an impact. while one might argue that monetary contributions by the contender or his organization are significant, we nust also examine that which is less tangible- the human touch. in many war torn countries, what is needed more now is love and mutual understanding rather that food and money. anyone who can suceed in doing that has my vote.

No Prize for
by Seeker on Sep 30, 2005 03:12 PM  Permalink

A person who propogates religion is a fanatic.

The country is in no need of of such people who grab money, seek publicity and do nothing.

So shame on the society who breeds such culture.

India is no dearth of such paracites who suck public money.

Did baba amnte or Ramakrishna got Prize people forgot them.

a true peacemaker!!
by Mridusmita Goswami on Sep 30, 2005 02:58 PM  Permalink

The aticle by Fracois Gautier has very rightly pointed out the reasons for His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to get the Noble Peace Prize. Guruji's efforts towards building a global family called Art Of Living which crosses all barriers of natioality and relogion needs no introduction. He has brought smiles to millions of people around the globe though his gift to the world"the Sudarshan Kriya".
The Art of Living is rendering its service in 144 countries at present, jumping into service at the right time regardless of what the calamity is.
It will be a true honour to humanity if the honour is conferred to Him.
