It has become a practice for one and all to belittle BJP/NDA government. I can say with confidence that BJP/NDA government had done lot of good things in their tenure which the Congress could not do in last 50 years. Responsible reporting is not speaking anything at any time (even if asked to do) , but formulate a strategy after hearing the knee jerk reactions of others and give a befitting & balanced statement. Sometimes , it becomes difficult for Leaders / Public Figures to retract their words , if spelt out thoughtlessly as happened recently with Musharaf , who said that Women get raped in Pakisthan to get Rich in West!
I agree with Govindraj's assessment and have felt the same frequently. Where are the media managers ? Tell me, how many would even know the name of our PM's Press Secretary or the "face" of PMO ? On that context, I would like to compare the daily press briefing done by White House - the transcript of which I invariably read daily. Yes, there is quite a bit of media spin (thanks to 'Spin Doctors' in the White House coterie) but we also get a view of what the top brass think. It is important that views of our Govt especially the leader is articulated frequently, widely and consistently.
In schooldays, I was brainwashed to think patriotic thoughts. Today, I don't quite understand what India means to me or otherwise. I cannot think of a political party that thinks about India. I cannot think of a a newspaper or any other medium that is really committed to India. I have a feeling that an average Pakistani is much more committed to Pakistan, whether for religious reasons or otherwise. An average Indian citizen isn't. Perhaps, this has happened because Indian society has been dominated by leftist thinkers who don't believe in a Nationa, certainly not in India. Perhaps, we Indians fail to acknowledge the contribution of the society to our individual progress.
Well, i think it is extremely important . pakis are really scoring points over us whn its come to meaida management. in recent interview on CNN BBC paks ex captain showed the similar passion and fervour while spaking abt the indo-pak realtions.
hey let our b'cats do some home work and please present our view point strongly before the world. If they cant do , let the govt hand this assignment to some pvt aganecy and we will prove it .
The auther has very well analysed the situation India faces internationally. The conclusion rather is important that India must improve on this "marketing" aspect of its image.
Lacking this for over so many years has given Pakistan a chance to create a good image of itself, even if we know its not the truth. But this opprotunity which they are seizing is making other nations tolerate the -ve side of pakistan, perhaps Pakistan doesn't seem to have any +ve side & virtues on basis of which they should get praised by international players.
The wily Pakis have always made the Indians look like the stumbling, plodding lame-brains they are - they have no idea about "spin" - the artform the pakis have mastered but the Indians yet to even acknowledge. In the war of words, the pakis have always won, because they know what buttons to push.
