Democrats today are hypocrites and John Kerry is an unreliable politician and does not know his own mind and every other politician in democratic party never lived up to their reputation including Jimmy Carter and we have to grow politically as well as economically and let us keep this in mind that we do what suits us and do not have any illusion that we are not wedded to the terms such as India caucus which evoke emotional appeal and no one did greater initiative than George W Bush who realised the value of India when he worked with Indians in Texas and more Indians now vote for conservatives than democrats who need to define their relationship with us in more clearer terms than the interviews reveal . Our 50 years history speaks for itself and it will definitely affect our relationship with US who needs Indian support now than never before if the initiative fails .Let us try atleast .
This country (earlier) called hindusthan, now India(the name given by us by the then britishers who ruled a country for 150 years. there are castes, creeds.colours. north south devide east and west, all names and places are resembles with people of particular region, 4 varnas(still exist) in the modern age, rich, poor, begger(asking for something from the rich, and the rich people are throwing something in their hands, here the lower castes womens are nakedly paraded, religious conflicts and such a big list is there..... who is claiming India will soon be a big power, and who had purchased a country called india.
Let us forget castiesm, racism, first, then only we can talk about India......
The relation between India and uss not developed suddenly.Mr. clinton who lead us for two presidential periods is defenitly owe to this.India will become a big power provided both countries also should keep the relations in all sphers healthy.

It is not unsual to find every desi living in USA ridicule the growth of our nation .I lived 50 years in India and can proudly say that we grow from nothing and the said reader can read the planning commission's reports and the committees set up by us with GD Birla and JRD Tata as members who prescribed mixed economy as the example and my living of 5 years in USA does not portray as the land of honey and milk and it faces as many problems as any other country .We have to try our best and definitely people living in other countries have plenty of time to downgrade us since they have nothing else to do on a holiday.
I live in the US and have lived in India for 27 years.
There is a lot of discussion going on with India as the next 'Super Power' and leader in Technology. It gives me a feeling of hope and pride but at the same time I feel that the media is 'beating about the bush.'
In an article that states that we constitute 12% World population with less than a 1% contribution in World exports and have no doubt the largest poor population with a ranking amongst the poor nations;please explain to me the dynamics of this claim?
When I look at the US infrastructure, their quality of life and their people happy with the achievments of their dreams of a big house, expensive cars and fat incomes,I feel we are yet decades behind in the race.
I have no doubt that India will invest in Defense and Nuclear deals, but what good will it be to the common person of India, when they still need to struggle with their basic needs, let alone the joys of living.
We talk of India making breakthroughs in IT.Well,it is the routine, monotonous work that the Western World detest and outsource to us.It is only that we work at cheap rates and speak English that India has got a grip in IT and not China!

This in support with the Sourabh mukherjji's statements about the IT. It is 100 percent true that the monotonous work of the western world is being outsourced. Moreover it is cheap as well. You can find many people in software firm doing clerical job (preparing reports)but they will be paid like anything.
The crux of the india become super power lies with politicians. If they come out of there nasty political thinking and act positively it will automatically turn out one day.

In reply to your message that main obstacle which kept India away from being a future super power is corruption in every sphere. But I do not agree with the blame that you have raised that allGovt.officials are running for money without doing their jobs. Then how India is on its wheels. How the train runs on its wheels.Donot generalise the matter as a whole.
Hi, This is a big Myth that India can be a super power. I believe we can't be super power unless we change our attitude. Basically Politician must change the attitude, they do not have zeal to work for country, all politician, I would say 99% are making money only once they get into power, elected. I would take example of Faridabad, Last year City voted Congress Candidate because they were fed up with Mr.chautala. nothing happened in year. then Harayan state voted out Mr.chautala , nothing good happen to the city, then M.C.F election, came all politian said we will change the city, two three road were rebuild, the day election happened all went off. till now nothing happened, This is attitude of our Politicians. They are Parasites. You see Govt. officials. you see Police, all take Govt Job to make money only.
this reminds me of the movie shrek 2, where the donkey annoyingly repeats the same line over and over again ; "are we there yet ?". we should rather focus on getting there first!
