Dr. Manmohan Singh will probably go down in Indian History books as one of its greatest leaders. He truly speaks softly and carries a big stick. India and Indians the world over can hold their heads high because of the words and actions of this amazing son of Indian soil.....Jai Hind phor that. Frank Cherian-USA
Dr.Manmohan Singh's assertion that India will never succumb to or compromise with terror in Jammu and Kashmir or elsewhere and his further assertion that no cause could ever justify the indiscriminate killing of innocent men, women and children deserves very high commendation. His statement that UN suffers from a democracy deficit and its structure and deision making process reflect the world of 1945 and not of 2005 and that it is in need of urgent and comprehensive reforms is really superb that too in the presence of 160 heads of state including George Bush who is sitting next to him. There is enough for every Indian to feel proud of in his speech. It has indeed been a long long journey. We are confident that the UN has the capacity and stamina to relinquish its Stone Age mindset and be relevant to the needs of our times. The Permanent Members of the UN are definitely in need of a thorough ongoing formation.
Well Done, We are really proud of you and the views expressed by you in UNO are enough to shake the world.Infact since you are at helm of affairs we hope u will bring out best for India. We understand it very well that Opposition parties especially BJP & NDA get fits whenever your efforts and approach is appreciated by all.Even your meeting with George Bush and subsequently his remarks for you are enough to show the world that Indian's are not less than anyone. God may bless India with your services for full tenure of current LOK SABHA.
Well said, PM " There is deficit in democracy ", in UN. It is pity that the present super powers are so power hungry, that they do not allow countries like india to be permanent members of security council. Dr. Manmohan, let us not worry about this permanent membership; let us concentrate on improving living conditions of our poor and let us become strongest economy in the world.
Dr.Manmohan Singh as PM is the best thing that has happened to my country. The mature and profoundly knowledgeable insight we see in every single utterance of his, could not be expected from Vajpayee or any other leader the BJP/NDA can ever produce. We see such a fine blend and balance in every subject he handles. We and the whole world sees the clarity and ease in his speech, which only come from a brilliant head and a pure, good heart. He is one of the most revered Sikh leaders and Sikh brethren who are a source of pride for all Indians and all of us irrespective of our political affiliations know that Dr. Manmohan Singh will lead our country ably to a better life for all. I only pray to God and hope that people like the NDA, who had somehow managed to grab power by misleading and deceiving our voters for a while and now stand fully exposed, would let the PM continue his good work, and desist from finding imaginary faults with him. They must always remember that Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have given their lives for this nation, whereas not a single leader of theirs with any comparable stature has as yet become a martyr.
Your Reporter stating that our respected Prime Minister read a THREE PAGE SPEECH at the august forum of the UNO is, to say the least, poor reporting, aand in bad taste. I am glad to note that Dr. Manmohan Singh covered subjects in his speech, which in my opinion, would require much, much, more than a mere 3 pages as stated in the Report.
Please, I suggest that you send your Reporter to a school for budding 'journos' where the curriculum includes lessons on principles of tactful reporting.
