Midguided and Plain Wrong
by MohanDas on Sep 15, 2005 08:50 AM  Permalink

Mr. Wilson makes the case for why citizens of India should not care about their country or government. Are our people's lives expendable chips to be traded in for this so-called peace process? No locus standi - what nonsense!! An Indian citizen is taken prisoner and sentenced to death with every suggestion that he was not given due process of law - what better locus standi can one ask? This is precisely the shameful logic that says we should not push the case when dead Indian POWs are returned with horrible evidence of torture and maiming. The same rationale that asks that we allow our citizens to be raped, misued like slaves, and unfairly executed in some Arab states in exchange for our oil "privileges". This road leads in only one direction - the weakening of our sinews, the bleeding of our soul, and the sapping of our national spirit.

Stand united - stop appeasement

What price is peace? Is the life of a fellow Indian something we should wish away gain the friendship of a rouge nation? Should we forget him becuase he is "just one of the many prisoners" in Pakistan's notorious prisons? One for all, all for one - till Indians value Indian life before anything else, no one else will value it more.

Bring Sarbjith Singh and all our brother Indians home. Let us talk peace then!

RE:Stand united - stop appeasement

Do you honestly think Pakistan will just let Sarabjit go if India applies pressure? Never. Pakistan will try to strike a deal. In the least Pakistan will keep claiming that it was lenient, it is humane, etc. to counter our claims of their terrorist support. Do we really want that?

If there is a way to have Sarabjit released without any accompanying tags, I'm all for it and I support your stand united-stop appeasement argument. But I doubt that will ever be the case. We have to weigh the pros with the cons. Releasing Maulana Masood during the IC-814 hijacking saved the lives of all passengers onboard that flight, but since then his terrorist organization has killed far more people in Kashmir than the number of passengers on that flight. So was that really standing united in the long term?

Try to understand brotherhood

These "intellectuals" take a "lofty view" where there is no place for compassion or brotherhood for fellow citizens. We common men are concerned about our soldiers and citizens.
