It is interesting to see Mahmood Shaam contradict himself within a single article. First he claims that the East and the West Pakistanis were united during the 1965 war, which he believes Pakistan won! Then he admits that right after the war, East Pakistan militated against West Pakistan.
It is common sense that victory in war unites a people, while loss, like the one that Pakistan suffered in 1965, gives opportunitiy for the disgruntled factions to break free. Since Pakistan lost the war, East Pakistan was emboldened to militate.
Contrast this with the scene in Kashmir: Since India decimated Pakistan in the war, Kashmiris stayed with the victorious India.
One could understand if Pakistan, whose collective ego and Islamic psyche must have been damaged because of the comprehensive defeats in the wars of 1965 and 1971, wants to rewrite history. But if they want to look credible in the eyes of anyone outside their own Kalamah-filled hearts and madrassas, their apologists must at least pen an article without internal contraditions!
It seems as if the penmanship of Pakistanis is not much better their swordsmanship!
Sir, your poetry is incomprehensible, if not reprehensible. It is also indefensible (See, I can be a poet too!). It is also laughable. Among other things.
Sir, please give it a rest.
Rediff, I have no problem when you decide to reprint a Paki's rants. But did you *have* to get a idiot Paki? Couldn't you get a decent, rational, well-informed one? One whose head wasn't firmly stuck in the sand. Or up his own you-know-what. There do exist some such, you know.
Oh, and a note to whoever does the screening of comments: Before deleting this comment, please show it to your sainted boss or editor or whoever and ask him to pay attention to the above paragraph. It'll improve the quality of the magazine and not drive away existing eyeballs.
Funny article by the pakistani reporter. It proves that Pakistan becomes a nation only against India and rest of the time it is a divided country. I can see the low moral of Pakis in Europe. I feel pitty on them and often wonder how these guys are suffering here and Pakistani army is enjoying in Pakistan . 1965 happened long time before . How you can you say that you won the war when the main purpose of stealing Kashmir was failed that time( It is failed even now also.. lol). How can one shamelessy blame win when Pakistan was divided shamelessly within 6 years... I wonder , how you claim that Chinese will protect you in case of war with India. Where is your self respect??? Really a funny article... How a nation can say on record that I am dependent on USA Or China for the protection of my country... Earn money man .. ... money does not come from begging ? for this you have to work hard...... Learn from Chinese how they are going ahead in manufacturing ? By the way a very simple question? What is the achievement of Pakistan for last 60 years ? In the field of technology , Development ... When Pakistan could not get Kashmir 60 years back how you think you can face India now....
I feel this journalist is dreaming when he wrote this column. The world knows the truth and in fact pakistani leaders have acknowledged the defeat and that they have created this war and they were ill prepared. But he was right. This war changed political balance in Pakistan. How? Take a wild guess.
One of the most ridiculous piece of viewpoint that I have ever came across. The war irrespective of who won it, is never a euphoric moment.
The way this gentleman spoke about glorifying pakistan heroics in the 1965 War with half of the inputs clearly be denoted as prejudiced speaks volumes about the Intent and character of him.
It is truely said that to be litrate is not to be educated...something that exemplfies with such kinda people....
This article clearly shows that how jingoistic and away from truth pakistanis are. They are still living in a make believe world of their own, refusing to accept the reality.
The fact is that pakistan lost the war badly inspite of having superior american armour and fire power. Their acquired Patton tanks were decimated by Indian army.
Even after losing 3 wars to India, pakistan hasn't learnt it's lesson and continuing to support and instigate terrorism in Kashmir and elsewhere in India. Instead of thinking about its citizen and their well-being pakistan is waging a proxy war in Kashmir. Trying to sabotage the peace process and spreading hate in the name of 'Islam'. Maligning Islam and Muslims across the world. It is rogue contries like pakistan who has made terrorism a synonym for Islam and terrorist a synonym for Muslim.
I'm hopeful that soon pakistanis will realize that what their leaders (both political and religious) have been telling them is a mere farce and far away from truth and that it is not going to help them in anyway.
As a matter of fact no country wins the war. Both sides lose. But I would urge to Mahmood Shaam sahab to read a interview of the then Air Chief Marshal of PAF. During those days of 1965 information suppression was no big deal. Fortunately now that isn't the case anymore. Hope you get some facts out of it.
Whatever Author is trying to demontrated my the column is the only expression of pakistani people . The claim that pakistani win the war is to boost the moral of pakistani but the fact that cant be denied that they didnt win the war . Futhermost the Mahmood Shaam very cunningly and cleverly dismiss the role of pakistani army to rise the tension in area ok jammuna and kashmir which provoke india to send there troop. The whole article is a description of the fake allegation against india with no concrete prove. Indian frimly belive that we won the war
In his article Mahmoud Shaam claiming Pakistan victory is garnished with factual errors. He states that Gen Ayub Khan met our Late Prime Minister Shastriji in February 1966 in Tashkent where as our Beloved Shastriji passed away in the early hours of 11th january 1966. More over I was present in the war zone in Kutch in both the wars of 1965 and 1971 and would often listen to Pakistan Radio which would erroneouly state that the roads in kutch were burning and caused lot of casualities whereas nothing like this ever happened Any such articles should be published after checking the factual correctness of the articles.
This guy is hilarious. Even after 40 yrs, the ego is prohibiting him from believing that they lost in \'65. Do you think bhutto would\'ve been able to handle us for \"1000 years\" ? (r u kidding me?)
