1947,62,65,71 and futher wars to come
by abhineet on Apr 17, 2006 05:23 PM  Permalink

its a good story very informative from this the indian military should learn that they have to get ready for even a single bullet pearcing through the indian armour. they should indeed bulid artilary guns and tanks rather getting themselves equipt from some other country. we have the potential of creating very good weapons but we oly have to some hard work and brains practical brains.we have to see and learn from other countries like israel, that how they are protecting themselves in such a hostile unruly condition we should learn from them how they won the 1967 arab-israeli war in around three totally different fronts i.e. against syria, egypt, etc. The THIRD WORLD WAR might be knocking at the gates we have to be ready for that.we should make nuclear bunkers to be protected against any potential nuclear strike on our holy soil but im sure what ever happens we will win the THIRD WORLD WAR...

article 1965 war
by sandeep on Sep 27, 2005 04:28 PM  Permalink

Very enlightening article; I wish more such articles, which inform us of our post-independance history are published. I think this will also contribute to the raising of the much needed 'national confidence' as well.

1965 War
by Isai Amuthan A S I on Sep 09, 2005 03:25 PM  Permalink

A good informative article. Like to know more about why India accepted to cease fire even though we had a fare chance to regain the lost area. That would have reduced the war fought later. Correct me if i am wrong.

1965 war
by partha.p on Sep 09, 2005 11:54 AM  Permalink

Many of the facts of three wars 1947, 1962 and 1965 are not known to the people of India. Such article should be published in a series so that children today come to know what type of neighbours we are surrounded by. History books do not teach all these and probably there is a remote possibilty of getting these included in the book. The future leaders in our younger generation should be well prepared with facts so that we do not suffer from recurrence of such problems just arising out of ignorance what we are facing today.

Thankyou Sir, for an extremely insightfull article. I wonder why none of this is taught in our history books in schools. It defenitely inspires a lot of confidence in our nation.

by smita Ankadawala on Sep 07, 2005 04:34 PM  Permalink

Hi
I was too young at that war time. would love to read more about
India's other wars too.

what happened during 1962? why India lost that war? what is the
reality now , since Sino-Indo relation is improving? Did we get back
the land that was lost in 1962?

Do write more.

Indians, specially younger generation must know.. thru these kind of
columns, not every one studies History at the Unversity level

this throws some light to the war 1965 which was not known
by indranil on Sep 06, 2005 07:39 PM  Permalink

this contains some valuable information which should be known to the generations who took birth after the 1970's because if these facts are not told then there are highly chances that they forget the sacrifices made by our the then soldiers are forgotten and to what cost our great soldiers took so that we are now enjoying our Sovereignty.
