India should try to maintain a healthy relationship between her neighbours as well as the friendly African nations like Nigeria who could help India to curb their oil demands.Further she should convince the central Asians like Iran that she is still a strong member of NAM and could not be tempted by any foreign power in deciding her foreign relationships . Visit of Dr.Singh and his crew to central Asia like afghanistan is appreciable.Ignoring central Asia who has got cultural relationship with India is severe mistake
I think we should invest lesser and lesser in finding oil and gas resources - remember these are depletable resources. To build a simple fly-over in Bombay takes about 5 years. I leave it to you to calculate how long its going to take to build this pipeline across 3 countries.
Solar power as some suggested is not viable due to limitations in technology and dependencies on nature.
I think the most viable option would be nuclear technology - specifically THORIUM based reactors. This natural resource is abundantly available in India and the by-products are not as dangerous as URANIUM based reactors.
I feel India should scrap the idea of building the pipeline through pakistan as we can never trust them.It will be a total loss once pakistan reverts on its stance which is hoghly likely at any moment. It will be like knowingly putting ur head into shit.
Regarding Burma ,India should devlope better relations.Power grows with combining people and not isolating .
China not a threat at all to India at all as if u look with the eyes of an economist ,u will know that what ever figures china is showing as leading india, they all are 1.unduly biosed figures 2.based on unrealistic economic and social fundamentals and 3.most importantly chinese people are not happy and experiencing the fruit of all those figures.they r still living conjested life of communism.
India should expand and such expansion should not lead to its dependence on its enemies so that no repentence is resulted.
The concern over pipeline passing through Pakistan is geniun, but lets resolve this concern by deciding the gas price at the doorstep of Indian territory. Gas prising can be decided at the production site or at your doorstep. The second option seems to be more reliable to India. Moreover even if the present pak. govt. decided to allow this pipeline. The next (democrately -oops) elected govt. can think otherwise. So pricing at our doorstep can resolve this problem.
I strongly feel that india must go for the indo-iran gas deal. Had america needed such resources,it would just had declared any country of its interest as a terrorist nation and attack it. This is not the polocy of India. We cannot step back just because the US is not pleased with it. I feel that Pakistan also has some economic interests in this pipeline which pushes it to protect it from damage.
1. India has high potential for solar power but scientist must find away for cheap prodution. Govt should give more importance to this aspect 2.India has got long sea shore and energy generation from tidal waves is another solution.we have to find out methods for commercially viable technology. 3. Power from geo thermal. 4. Power from wind .we should exloit the entire potential avilable. 5.Hydal power from rivers running thro'Himalayan region. 6.In India energy losses are considerable mainly , transmission losses, power tehft and other related area.Thoroug energy audit should conduted at consumer end energy saing methods should implemented strictly.we know energy saved is energy produced. 7.consumers who use energy for nogood purpose like illumination big bill boards(espacilly tobacco products)
Since we are in the phase of Confidence Buidling Measure to improve relations between India and Pakistan. I think both needs to show some trust on each other if we want to proceed ahead.
