Hi, It is good in a way that it rained heavily in all major cities of India. I might sound sadist to some, but think it through, it is very much needed. It is simple, over the past say 10 to 15 or even 20 years none of our major cities have had any major infra investment. Take Mumbai, except for the 55 odd flyovers built in 5 yrs, there have been no major investments in transportation/drainage/water supply/electricity infrastructure. Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) according to field survey by World Bank is moving very slowly. Take a train journey from Dadar to Virar any time or Dadar to Kalyan, u ll know of the Betterment the mayors, CMs, PWD, BMC have made. Bangalore- Ooo la la. The flyover work near the dairy intersecting Bannerghatta road is going on since ages. Driving back home en route from Lal Baug made me cry due to diesel and petrol emissions. Mekhri Circle another night mare! Why even the Ulsoor road Cunningham Road every possible road is the same.Chennai- Wow The Mount Road Ride!! It seems like a major river wherein all the estuaries join in.Mambalam,Kodambakkam(the bridge at Kodambakkam is perenially jammed)Saidapet towards Guindy-Any axn will come aft a disaster
Infrastructure is a very vital term in every day life of man. Whether super power or duper power it is one and same. Thousands of years ago this was very much in force in our own country as administration was efficient, fast, professional and unbiased. This is very evident from the history that well laid out roads, storm water drains, strong temples and structures that were built those days. Present day administration is zero or minus in all the above aspects. I would blame the rulers and the ruled alike as all hue and cry starts only after rains come down. Rain is gods gift to mankind and only Indians are stupid and cluless on how to make use of this rich and very essential natural resource properly. I read one last line in the article that "incessant rains caused fatalities and loss of property worth 2600 crores of IRS"!! How wrong it is!! Rain did not cause any damage, it was poor foresight, anticipation and planning by the officialdom that caused damage. Okay after the rains end, what is next? Will all the officials brought to book for not having checked drainage systems, Electricity lines, Rail lines, roads, etc., Not at all!! Long live democracy!!!
Gods have answered Tamil Nadu's prayers for water. They should stop harassing Karnataka for Cauvery waters and instead harness mother nature's bounties for future use.
Rain Rain Go Away ----------------- This is the prayer the people in chennai, north TamilNadu ,and Southern Andhra have to do now .It has been raining continuously here because of the low pressure from yesterday evening .
I am in Ram Nagar (Velachery) ,Chennai where the area is completly covered with water . As it is a low level area , the water has started coming into the houses .The roads have been submerged completely and we had walked in knee depth water to come to office(Adventnet),as it is a safer place to be now than in our room. If the rain is to continue for one more the day ,then the first floors in this area will be completly with water .
Now it is the turn of chennai , that is seeing the anger of the furious rain gods which started in north of India with lashing Mumbai , then to the east , then Hyderabad last month , Banglore before 5 days ,and West Bengal and Tamil Nadu now causing extensive damage .
