Look around sir
by Ary on Oct 20, 2005 09:21 PM  Permalink

What do you have to say about Akhilesh yadav ntoduced by Mr.Mulayam? Raj/Uddhav Thackeray by Balasaheb? Vajpayee\'s foster family into the PMO by Shri ABV? chautala and company? Badal and co? Varun/maneka gandhi (you could argue they are Gandhis).....the list is endless. People who argue Sonia and Rahul\'s credentials fail to question Maneka and varun\'s credentials. Is it because thay hav joined BJP? probably not. It might be due to their relative non-significance. So, do not point at the dynasty. It just so happens that the dynasty is the most prominent and powerful of all of these and therefore receives media attention.

What about all the business people (tatas, birlas, ambanis etc) who keep business fortunes within families? Sons and daughters of movie stars? Ordinary common parents want their children to emulate them (its just more hardwork fo these people)? This happens in evey walk of life. Politics happens to be jsut another profession. And remember, when people of India vote they know who they are voting for. Respect them.

young prince
by Vijaya Kumar on Oct 20, 2005 07:29 PM  Permalink

He need not be disqualified because he happens to be Nehru-Gandhi-but qualified if he has some credentials to become PM. His mother is building them for him. When takes over 5 years from now, he would be an accomplished MP, and a minister for foreign affairs or defense. I wonder if those innumerable people who sacrificed for the liberation from British did a right thing in fighting for it when the majority crave and cry for a foreign rule-Bihar crying out for Muslim rule, Madras crying for Dalit rule, Andhra crying for Christian rule, no one crying for rule of Indian irrespective of caste or religion-amazing nation indeed. Origin of such confusion needs investigation. Vijaya Kumar

Absolutely on the dot !!
by raman on Oct 20, 2005 02:49 PM  Permalink

A commendable article Ashok !! It's sadly true that britishers had gone away 58 years back but we were still not free and continue to be ruled by one family for such a long time. I feel pity for those who vote for congress thinking that it's stable and mature party. I would say they are the most gutless bunch of fellows who do not mind taking shelter behind a lady who can barely speak a sentence in the nation's mother-tongue
Please bring some more on Congress' fallacies

Is India is Democratic
by SREENIVAAS MOORTHY DAGGUAPTI on Oct 20, 2005 01:32 PM  Permalink

India is said to be the largest democracy in the
world, but in real terms is it????

In a strong democracies a leader should be made from masses not from dynasties, ofcourse this reference not only for Nehru-Gandhi's but also for all politicians, because leaders are forcing the people to accept their sons/daughters.

A Prime Minister of India means he should be the leader of the entire country, means he should atleast know the problems of the country, but what is status of Rahul Gandhi.. He is the man born with silver spoon, and spent his most time in AC rooms.

As long as masses are going to accept this dynastic rule, India will not move forward to welfare state.

Nehru-Gandhi dynasty not forever
by Dr. Dhanakar Thakur on Oct 20, 2005 01:32 PM  Permalink

No dynasty has been forever anywhere and Gandhi capped Nehru- dynasty will also not to be forever.
Lohiya attacked it first and Kripalani too left Congress. Biggest defaulter was Gandhi himself who did not accept Subhash who would have been a far better PM , even Patel or Jinnah would have been better as Nehru had no faith in Gandhian values and his failures on all fronts were in own lifetime like Hindi Chini bhai bhai.
Ascent of Indira by Congress Presidency he planned as Motilal had planned for him by ordering congressmen to observe his birthday as Bal Divas. Once Gandhi had said Motilal loved his son even more than nation. Was Gandhis neglect to Patel as he too was a Gujarati or for a pan-Indian image?
Indira is India slogan makers and herself Indira lost;Janata Party undemocratic internally otherwise in an amalgam of parties it should have accepted young Vajpayee as its leader who would have fared better than he could much later.
Rahuls boasting for PM at 25 was due to BJPs feel good/felt bad/shining Indiawhich could not. Congress following caste-listings of Lalu and Marxists love for Lalu or Congress would ruin them.
Problem is congrssisation of BJP not Rahul.

CONGRESS FEUDALISM
by MANISH CHANDRA GHILDIYAL on Oct 20, 2005 01:26 PM  Permalink

A very nice article...almost a mirroe reflection of my own thoughts.A nation moves ahead only when it is able to scout its best talent and handing over the power and responsibilities to them. I think thats where India has failed and its only due to Congress's obsession to Nehu-Gandhi family. These people were handed over nation's control when no one knows their ability. Sans Nehru, all other Gandhis reallt didn't have requisite expereince, talent and mental depth to lead sucha vast nation. Can you imagine a pilot being plucked out of air and thrusted as PM to 1 billion people. Its just the zenith of sycophancy.Indira didn't allow JP to become PM, the best India could had. This obseaaion to Gandhi family just didn't allow talent to come up. Just for an example, after PV Narsimha Rao Rajesh Pilot and Scindia were two best candidates for congress presidentship in terms of experiece and ability. But Sonia was handed over presidentship as for congressmen there is noone beyond Gandhis.A child takes birth in Gandhi family and entire party goes to touvh his/her feet. Wht is this nonsense...just moern form of medieval feudalism.

The Nehru Gandhi Dynasty forever.
by PM on Oct 20, 2005 01:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When the generations down from Motilal Nehru and their in daughters / sons are working for the nation's betterment in polity or economics we call it 'Dynasty'and power hungry!. If individually they do so and extinguish themselves dead with 'power hunger' we call it 'Martyr' of the nation!.
