Ashok Mitra's article
by Gopal Sharma on Oct 22, 2005 09:13 PM  Permalink

Ashok Mitra's 'mother of all questions: is the nation captive to Congress for eternity' is a very relevant question. The nation must respoond to it after considering his arguments which are: (1) Congress is no longer an all-India party; (2) a party that secures only 23% of the national vote has no right to be the ruling party; (3) if it is in power today it is because of the threat of takeover by the Rightists; (4) Congress may disintegrate any time the moment the Left and Lalu decide to withdraw suppot to it; and (5)Manmohan Singh will go the moment Sonia decides to make Rahul Gandhi the PM? These are very serious questions. Hence, the nation's response must also be appropriate to the occasion. This article must be circulated among all journalists, intellectuals, foreign policy students and practitioners and all heads of political parties. Yours -- Gopal Sharma

dynasty forever?
by sanarun on Oct 22, 2005 07:29 PM  Permalink

The family referred above as 'dynasty' has amassed so much wealth during three generation rule that an ordinary congress workers (and the sycophant leaders) feel it necessary to keep its member in good humour in anticipiation of getting a 'part of the cake'.

Dynasty Rule
by Frankline on Oct 22, 2005 11:15 AM  Permalink

Making much furore and exhibiting apprehensions about a thing which is very much precarious is an irrational act. Xenophobia of Sonia is something that one should forgo as she shown her aversion to become priminister of India. Lal Bahadur Shastri, P.V. Narsimha Rao, and now our present priminister belong to the same congress, which was there since 1885. It is not the question of dynasty but worth should become critarion in selecting priminister.

As far as the statement of Rahul in an informal chat with Tehelca cannot be construed as genuine one as the congress spokes person repudiated Rahul having made any such comment. Indeed the bete noire of congress is bigotry that has no credence in secular values enshrined in the constitution. It is a misconception if one thinks secularism purports to atheism. One should dispel one's fear about dynasty rule.

dynastic rule

Ashok Mitra has hit the nail on the head. The people of our country have by tradition been of a mindset or mentality - " Raja vis-a-vis Praja", i.e. the king and his subjects.
Rahul Gandhi knows the importance of his place and family of birth and thus he is absolutely right when he says that he can be PM whenever he desires to be - in the current political scenario - his 'mummy' will organise things in 2 minutes!
As to whether the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty rule will continue- lets add a VADRA to it - only the people of this great country can determine.
But such things happen when the country's oldest political party remains spineless, when the country's over 50% population lives below poverty lines in 2 of the most crucial states i.e. UP and Bihar.
If things have to change- people shall have to show a greater will and wisdom, else lets annoint P Vadra's son/daughter as our supreme leader and let her rule till they come off age!!!

Ashok Mitra appears to be a vhp and bajrang dal man. He should know as long as 20% muslims and 5%christians and 20% dalits are there in India, Nehru dynasty cannot be routed out from here. He should also know further that these are increasing further day by day how so ever Mitra and his suporters cry.

Nusrat Ali.

National party- Naam ke vaaste
by Mrityunjaya Vastrad on Oct 21, 2005 09:09 PM  Permalink

Congress party boasts Sonia Gandhi to be the mass leader where as the truth is that she is not even near to local party worker level when it comes to organisational skills and leadership qualities. They have been asking the votes in the name of Garibi hatao and Aam addmi ko kya mila? just fooling the innocent people who have fallen to their trap. She is just taking our people for a ride. These congress people do not have any charismatic leaders in themselves so they are entirely dependent on that lady for their survival. Moreover, the western media made her the most powerful leader by carrying a article on her after the last year's general elections, but the fact is that the second largest party BJP secured just 6 to 8 less than Congress's 145 who have come to power on so many partys' back. I feel ashamed that there are politicians including chief ministers who beg her for even the prettiest things. By the time next elections come, they are preparing ground for Rahul Gandhi to take over. Time has come for people to reject Congress which has divided the country on caste basis for the last 50 years. If BJP is communal party so is Congress who continue to ask votes on caste basis.
