India's help to POK
by Rajagopalan, TX, USA on Oct 18, 2005 08:54 PM  Permalink

Oct 18
India offered help to Pak instantaneously on hearing the news, even without any request from Pak. But Pak itself has not reached Muzaffarabad/affected areas 36 hrs after the quake. As already expressed by Western media, Pak is more worried about terrorist camps seen by India than rescue operations. Hence, Musharraf took all his sweet time. He is not worried about people dying due to lack of rescue operations, because he feels Pak people may die but his trusted terrorists can create similar havoc in India. India always extends genuine offer of friendship but Pak's cunning rulers will never reciprocate sincerely. Till date, no Military ruler of Pak had pleasant ending and we will see how Musharraf's end will come. He wants Indian Helicopters but without Pilots. Does he think that India has developed Auto Helicopters which can fly without Pilots? He would prefer all the Pak civilians die than give up his seat.

New way to Think
by Tayee Dave on Oct 18, 2005 10:28 AM  Permalink

First of all I would like to say that I am from Gujarat, the area which experienced the similar type of earth quake 5 years ago and this article recalled all that memories that we felt. I also visited the Bhuj - the main victim of the 26th January earth quake - just after two days. I saw the same things that the writer of this article has seen during his visits to different area. The difference is that it was 5 years ago, it was India.
I agree with the writer that our governments are playing games with each other and the general public have to suffer, be it the situation of war or natural disaster.
May God help all the people who are suffering from current situation!

Indian Army
by Lionel on Oct 17, 2005 10:59 PM  Permalink

Mir is plainly wrong when he portrays this as an Army-Army problem. It was not the Indian Army that offered to help but the Indian government - a democratically elected and accountable government. Whereas in Pakistan the Army is the government and everything either works or not depending on the Army. Just because some Indian army officers publicized their humane acts (even if it is scoring points) it is absurd to think that is a reason for not accepting helicopters.

Re. Quake victims...

Hello sir,
It was gr8888 article by you and when i was reading it, I can;t tell you the emotions of mine. The quake had destroyed the buitiful mountains and everything has been washed out within 2 mins.

I wanted to mentioned few points that, even in pain, if Pakistan army does not want to share their pain, they feel India is their enemy how can the two countries come together? Why Mr President then try to hankshake with Indian deplomat? just to show the media or what? See the mentality of their ppl, they thought India attacked them with bomb. See the mentality of the army personnel, even the whole world knows that Indian army crossed the border and helped their many people and came back, how can you improve the mentality of this people? Even India take so many posotive steps to make friendship, I dont think Pakistani will agree and become a faithful neightbour to India. India should answer them with bullets only. That's why around 5000 millitant killed in the quake. This is wat god had gifted them.
Jai Hind!!!

As far as my concern, i and like me all other indian citizens who is same in my mind were also share with your ideas and views. We, I mean indian government as well as pak govt. should help each other. As there is a hadeeth from Muhammed [PBUH], ""YOU SHOULD CHECK BEFORE EAT, IS YOUR NEIGHBOUR HAVE FOOD, THEN MAKE IT FOR THEM"". Hope you also aware about this.

Anyhow, we are all praying for you brothers. In this very good month of Ramadan, insha allah we will defenitely pray for each one who has lost their lives. May the almighty Allah give relief to all of them who were suffering from this.

Death in pak
by kavitha on Oct 17, 2005 03:15 PM  Permalink

it really moves me to think that pak -india talk so much about building relation, a relation strengthens only at times of calamity. many think that pakistan has been punished for its wrongdoings, but in view of humanity, i feel one and all should contribut to bring smiles on these people who have no one to go to.

Lets all join hands and make them rise up from their sorrow.

Dear Sir

I fully endorse your views that if these two countries can not help each other at the time of this horrific natural disaster,we can never be friend. But who is to blame for this. Not even a single Indian Army person refused or objected over goverment decision to help quake victims in POK.The same can not be said about Pak Army. so much is hattred generated amongst them that they consider India as Enemy No. 1.India has the resources and infrastructure to cope up with this situation.Take example of Kachch earthquakeor or Tsunami Disaster, Indian DMG reacted sharpely and within no time help was provided to victims.

I would request the Kashmiris to forget enimity and just think of burried generation half of which could have survived had help arrived in time. Now still they can rebuild the nation provided they should not talk of terrorism or fundamentalism. Our arms are stratched and we would help whole heartedly to all the victims. Please have faith on us.

regards

Raj
