Quake in Pakistan
by Vkumar on Nov 02, 2005 08:19 PM  Permalink

Poor Poor Poor POK Kashmiris !!! they will never get the aid which was to come to them because most will be filched !!, let them die of cold because they are not part of ruling PUnjabi elite. Come winter, there will be a major human tragedy with hundreds dying of cold and snow, but west does not care much, Americans like to keep chameleons as pets and GENERALISSMO Musharraf is able to outfox them on every turn and they think they are keeping him, but let him change and show his true colors, and US will regret patronising him !!!

Disasters to check crime!
by B.Gautam on Oct 13, 2005 04:24 PM  Permalink

Natural calamities - Earth quake in Gujarat, Tsunami in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu in India, Hurricane repeatedly in US, now Earth quake in Pakistan and J&K, if we take the major damages inflicted to lives and properties!

A careful, un biased and un-prejudicial analysis of these disasters certainly leads us to a punitive force that awarded a perfect judicial conviction, perhaps!
Gujarat for its over-action of so called Hindutwa, Indonesia for its support to violence, Sri Lanka for its violence for years now, Tamil Nadu in India for its over-action on Sri Sankaracharya, US for its arrogant and dominative violence in the world itself and Pakistan and J&K for President Musharaf's crime and violence over India and his support to US on its criminal activities in the entire world! Perhaps, Nature is on the wait for UK according a reasonable warning time as did in every case before punishing!

So, if the world is not suffering from brain drain, their common wisdom should be sufficient to learn that there is definitely a POWERFUL FORCE which cannot be challenged by the criminals though they however temporarily manage to evade a suitable punishment!
Let humanity therefore be conscious of the SUPER POWER that is keeping the lives under constant surveillance to balance the evils! Will the entire world learn a lesson from these catastrophies to establish peace, tranquility and happiness by offering ever lasting help to all those in miseries!

You add to the misery

I live in the UK, scanning though reports from around the world I came across your site.

Having found the initial part of your report informative, I must admit I became rather saddened and if you don't mind me saying quite disturbing, noting that at a time of such tragedy, the majority of your report focused on the usual " line of control - terrorism" rhetoric, which we hear all too often....change the record please.

I know you probably won't publish my comments but at least in private take some care in what you write.

Quake in Pakistan
by StratAnalyst on Oct 12, 2005 01:26 PM  Permalink

I was shocked by the news report in CNN which talked about J&K residents not happy with the aid being provided. There were additional reports (in Rediff itself) which talked of militants distributing aid in J&K. And how POK people were happy with the aid. In short how Pakistan is good and India bad.

After all, the grass is always greener on the other side.

However I must admire the media savvy ness of Pakistanis and totally totally hate the self defeatist/ pessimist nature of our media. Now that a Paki has said good things about Indian army relief, Indian media might think saying less bad things about our own army.

Quake in Pakistan: Th Sequel
by s subramanyan on Oct 12, 2005 10:54 AM  Permalink

The recent earthquake has some serious lessons for us both in Pak and India. Recently Dileep Padgaonkar reviewed a book by Altaz Ahsan tracing the common origins of India and Pakistan. This earthquake has proved his muted thesis, with a stark reminder of a common geological features beneath our mother earth.

But all this sounds nothing to the military brass in Pakistan. They are shedding crocodile tears over the loss of a generation. But hypocrites they are, they had denied India's offer to rush aid and doctors and nurses. If they had, our IAF would have flown several sorties with relief material by Saturday noon saving several thousand lives and property.

Even after many more catastropohies in future the mullahs and miliatary of Pakistan will not see reason for the betterment of its own peoples.

Earth Quake in Subcontinent.
by Srinivas on Oct 12, 2005 04:41 AM  Permalink

I think all Indian media should stop brodcasting the about Pakistan news even it is a natural calamity. The PTV news never even mentioned about the casualities in earthquake in Jammu & Kashmir for atleast once. This shows there extent of animosity towards India. Which shows that only Indians are moving for closer ties with Pakistan. I think that Pakistan as nation or its people will never rise to humanity or human values.

Earthquake effects
by NH on Oct 12, 2005 03:03 AM  Permalink

Good article. I am saddened by the loss of innocent lives. However, the earthquake seems to have accomplished what the Indian establishment has been itching to do for a while - put a dent in the terrorist infrastructure in Muzaffarabad...
